A few Auto Cross Questions
Hello,
I went to one autocross event and it was TONS of Fun!
So Id love to do it again, but Id like to get a spare set of tires so I dont burn through my street tires. My car is my DD.
Also, id like to get my own helmet..
What kind of tires / helmet ?
I was looking at the Pro Phenom Helmet that I saw in a Summit racing catalog.
Opinions?
G Force Pro Phenom Helmet
Also,
I was thinking, if I get 225 tires instead of the stock size of 215 (for more grip?) what would the second number of the tire size be? 215/45/18 the 45 % would have to be diffrent otherwise my sidewall woudl be larger since the wide is larger?
What size/tries do you guys recomened for autocross?
Thanks,

That helmet is fine, if you like it.
Most people use a full face one (like the Stig) if only because that covers and protects more of your face. It's up to you really.
Something to think about is if you happen to cross over to say, start doing track days, you might face some challenges. Instructors often have microphone systems to slip into your helmet so you don't have to yell, and they rely on being covered inside your helmet to block the wind from the mic.
