help a n00b...

well i hit the dragon this past friday and while i did pull over 1g up there with a bone stock car i feel that there is a lot more in the car with a lower center of gravity and most importantly a bigger rear bar...

this is my daily driver so am i right to assume that pedders springs and an OTTP street bar would get me about where i want to be? it seems as tho everyone thinks the stock front bar is just fine so i think im going to leave it alone...

please tell me if im right or wrong and what you would suggest

Well my Pedders are sitting in the garage until autocross season is over and haven't gotten a rear bar yet. But, the general census seams to be hardcore rear bar seems to balance the car nicely.

I've never seen you at any SCR-SCCA events? Do you run any track days?

nope, i almost went to the black lake course at michelin test center a few weeks back but i dont see the fun in hanging out on a giant parkinglot when its 97 outside... closest track is abotu 2 1/2hrs away and i honestly would rather not wipe out braking into a corner at like 120

you could go far with tuning suspension right, probably tightening up the rear so it doesn't slip out, or lowering center of gravity will help out alot.

You can never appreciate this cars potential until you get it out on track. Baby it into the braking zones and your still gonna pass everyone at a beginners track event. That's the beauty of FWD it's very forgiving at the limit.

As far as the rear bar, I won't be able to give you first hand experiance until the end of the season when I prep for STX for next year.

fwd is almost boring now lol. i came from a geared mustang and was used to trailbraking into some corners and then rolling into the gas and holding it on that edge of rotation... the times i expected to have to catch the rear end in the cobalt on hwy 28 in ga the rear just flopped around on top of the stock tires... when i was following my buddy in his camaro i was amazed at how much harder i was jamming it into the turns than he was... i could drop back a turn or two and be right back on his bumper in 3-4 turns.

didnt know you could yank a front tire on a FWD car... but i did lol... massssive throttle induced understeer on corner exit in front of killboy

when you said the hardcore bar balanced it out, were you refering to stock springs or pedders?

Great pics!

Either one from what I understand the pedders and stock springs have a pretty similar spring rate. I only know of one guy who has actually measured this but he doesn't like to share. But, the Pedders do change the rake slightly so you would think it would change the balanced a little bit. I'll soon find out for sure.
