looking to start autocross!!
Well, I can't help you much with Vegas, but www.scca.org is the best place to start looking to find out more info about locations.
You can try googling "Las Vegas autocross", might turn up a local car club. Some places have as many as 3 or 4 groups that organize auto-x events. Here in Pittsburgh we have two, SCCA is one, but there's another local sports car club that also holds events.
Well, since you're in LV, chances are they go all year round, or maybe even have a summer session and winter session to keep the points separate and have down time for upgrades.
Contact the local rep for LV's region and talk to him/her about it. Let them know what you're looking to get into and you want to get in and learn. If you come across as someone who wants to learn about it, most are always glad to show and share their knowledge. At least here in the northeast they are.
Find out when the next one is, and go watch it. At the end, find out who's running things there ( that's usually the "solo chairperson" ) and talk to them about it. They might even get you a "fun run" in someone's car ( riding along ), and you can see 1st hand how it feels.
You'll be addicted. I know I was.

Yeah you will be addicted... I went to the school/event #1 here in tejas and I am hooked. Its a freakin blast man, I think its better than straight line fun just because you are using more of the car it seems like (gas, brake, shift, turn, gas, gas, brake, turn, gas, turn, brake, gas, turn, you get the idea....)
As a matter of fact, click that little animated gif in my sig, you'll see what it is like from the passenger seat
