nice job!! are you G85 equipped? you are nice and smooth for your second time and you got video of it
it's nice that you get the time right after your run
I also Auto-X'd yesterday... I think I got second in my class (I have to wait for the offical results to be posted)! I will post some times when times when the get up on the website

very impressive throttle control
I smoke my tires like a california wildfire
what about tires... stock Pirelli's?
how did you place in your class?
how long was your course (time)?
did you have a slalom in that course? (I didn't see one)
the layout we had this weekend was huge... we had a 4 cone slalom.
overall laps for the group ranged from 1:02's for the Porsche Turbo/STI's/Evo's to low 1:30's for the wimpy cars.... I got down to a 1:07.066
give it a shot... you'll be hooked

the end was a 3 cone slalom.the fastest was a 350z with like a 41.xx and slowest was a fox body 5.doe. and i agree, once you try it you will be hooked. and thanks for the throttle control comment. my first auto x i was powering it out and pushing through all the turns not so this time out. i was gonna go to a 2.7 and all supporting mods but i think that will be too much power. also at the end of the day after going for a ride with the 350 guy i noticed he spikes his brakes right before the turn and i tried and it worked a hell of a lot better

That was a nice, clean run. I also auto-x. I got first in my class two weeks ago. I like to run 45 psi in the rear and about 42 or so in the front. A lot depends on the surface and the temp out. Also, i'm running on stock tires.
Rick... come out on 6/3 to BR... you can ride along with me and see what our cars are like with R-comps....
You could run in Street tire class. I can't remember what you've done with yours, but if you have the CAI that throws you to the wolves in STX.

If I had some traction, I'd really be able to kick some butt...
I am contemplating LSD for my car... I need to find out what the overall $$ would be for part and install.
I am also contemplating an R compound tire... don't they need to be warmed up to get optimal grip?
there is a guy in a modded MR2 turbo who I beat last year a few times... he got me yesterday by .25 seconds, I asked him what he changed since last season...he went to BFG's KD tires... I'll need tires if I want to beat him this season
Yes spiking the brakes does a nice weight transfer
I do the opposite... I run 40 in the front and 37 in the rear and get nice rotation... I am going down to 35 in the rears next event

yes brian i will be there. BR is home turf, lol. i do need to get some R-comps
As far as "warming up" your tires..... when you do your runs, the 1st run is generally to get them up to temp. SCCA rules do not allow tire "warmers" but you can make blankets taht keep them warm as long as they're not something the "heats" them.
I have no problems with keeping heat in.. I have problems keeping the fronts from overheating sometimes.
LSD.... you're looking at a grand or two installed depending on the type. The OEM style one is around 1500 I think, plus a chunk to install it.
R-comps are fun, but can get pricey depending on your size. If you don't want to switch tires and run in prepared classes or street mod ( depending on what's done to the car ), you can run in STX or STU ( depending on car ) and use a good set of sticky street tires... Azenis, Advans, or the new Bridgestone Re-01's.

To comment on the observation you made about the 350z spiking his brakes, that is in theory the way to race. You are throttle on until braking point, brake hard and fast to pending lock up, and then throttle out of the corner. Something that you might also try is trail braking or left foot braking. Alot of people don't like it, but I found when i had my galant that it helped keep the revs up.
I do have a question after watching the video. Are you short shifting your car? Are you running to the top of second? Sometimes it's quicker to bounce if off the limiter if you just reach max revs into the corner, than having to shift into third, and then back down to second. The time it takes to shift up and down can equal about a half-second of time or so.
Those are just my suggestions. I used to autox my 2000 galant. It was stock on the engine side. I had progress springs and kyb agx adjustable dampers. I also installed a strut tower brace. Granted those mods helped alot, but with practice I really held my own with people in much faster cars.
Hope this helps some and keep on representing the cobalts at the autox's
