On a serious note! Please read...
Venom, once again, you're my hero for showing me the ropes on the Auto-X course at the CNE today. Despite what I said about not going out again... I did. I KNOW it was quicker than my 23.3, but the timing gear was broken. I went way harder out of the gate, didn't wash as wide in the decreasing radius left hander, and ran more aggressively to the finish line.
I'm hooked.
I'm hooked.
You are welcome, glad to hear you are hooked!
None of the other 5 students I went out with came close to 23.3, so you did pretty good even if it was a less than a perfect run. Just think what you can do with a little more seat time and air in the tires.
Thanks!
Please let me know when you find it. If I can get one more I will dyno mine.

Well, the guy in the white Si Coupe ran 22.9, so that prompted me to go back out. I'm pretty sure I ran faster than that (the instructor agreed it was a good run), but alas, the timing gear let me down for the second time... That is, unless my third run was ACTUALLY 17.1
I can't wait to get out more next year with proper preparation. Fun side note I forgot to mention? When I first ran to get my car, I had windshield wiper fluid sitting in the trunk... I figured it would fly around and damage things, so I stashed it in a bush by the parking lot. It was there when I got back, so bonus there!

Hope to see you out next year.

On the other hand I would like to do the Stage Kit, a full Tein setup and a set of BFG R1's anf just go all out.

I am disappointed that Tein only offers the Basic coilovers for the Cobalt. I was hoping to go with a full Tein setup with EDFC and everything this winter. Do you know more about this than I?
As soon as I get more solid info I will post here, in the mean time we can all dream right
That would be awsome, but honestly I don't think I have the ***** to go all out on the Ring.
They will probably ban the little Cobalt...

ps Track Test vid added to the first page.

I was going through pics from this summer and came across these from when I met Venom at the Forza Drive Your Dreams event... I figured they'd be relevant to post in here since Venom is the one driving

Half way through winter, folks!

Half way through winter, folks!
Thanks buddy!
I am running 37-38 hot front, 35 - 36 hot rear.
Even at 2.5 deg camber tire wear is a problem for me. Higher pressures will help, but I like how the car "feels" at these lower pressures. It moves around a bit through the tighter stuff with a LOT of grip in the sweepers.
Stock pads are better than HPS in terms of pedal feel IMHO, I may try HP+ next year if I run bigger rubber. As for deposit on the fotors, I know what you mean. I had the same problem early this year (steering wheel shaking). A GOOD cooldown lap and some in the parking lot before you shut her of seems to help.
Take the muffler off and just weld in a straight pipe, you won't be sorry! It is not loud at all.
Glad you can still shock them at the tracks down there
The secret is out around here.
No more surprising comments about how fast the stock little Cobalt is. Last week I was invited by Performance Auto And Sound for a day at the track while they were testing new tires. People literally stopped what they were doing and stared as I drove into the pits. I could see them pointing and shaking their heads. And these were owners of M3's and 350 Z's

Thanks man, I missed you this season! This Saturday WOSCA is running a charity event at the Fanshawe College. Last time out I gave Marsh a good run for his money in his little Miata. If it doesn't rain we plan on going.
See you there?

I spy a rear antisway bar in that picture.
I found an interesting clip from last year, my passenger talks about the time attack cobalt... enjoy.

In your youtube video "Wosca Autocrossing May31" were you shifting back and forth between first and second gear? I was told to never shift to first unless at a complete stop. I want to autocross but you have me worried now. What's on the lip of your car in the pics?

As for shifting into first, I've seen Venom do it first hand with a proper rev-match... I didn't think it was possible, but he did it seamlessly.
Force, does the painters tape not scratch your car paint or at least leave a sticky residue? Is it worth it to take the time and put the tape on before autocross? If you plow over a cone won't the front lip crack anyway?
X2, 1st I thought it was wrong to do and 2nd I thought it was not possible due to a lock out safety feature. Somehow the tranny knows the engine speed and road speed and will unlock when properly rev-matched? I've tried in a parking lot rolling 3mph and trying to put it in 1st and it would not go. Venom I'm impressed with your driving and shifting, how'd you do that?
