Venom,
I seen in one of your post about running a different size tire and rim next year. Can we fit anything wider and will 17inch rims clear the front brakes?
I ran nitto nt 01s this year on the track. I have been looking for something else for next year. They did alot of tire test this year at the track I run at and the best times and wear came from the AD 08's. I was trying to decide if they are worth double the price of the Nittos?
This winter is lasting way to long! I need some track time soon!
By the way I ran the KW2 this year and thought they were great.

Thanks for the information you are passing on!

BTW i also ran colbalt friction brake pads on my car for the track. Those pads are awsume!
They have them for ous ss/tc. If you try them i think you will really like them.

Venom I'm impressed with your driving and shifting, how'd you do that?

Force, does the painters tape not scratch your car paint or at least leave a sticky residue? Is it worth it to take the time and put the tape on before autocross? If you plow over a cone won't the front lip crack anyway?
Don't try it if you are not comfortable with revmatching. Our 1st and 2nd is spaced out pretty far making this harder to do, than say from 3rd to 2nd. You can/will hurt yout car if you screw up.
Practice the easy 4th to 3rd and go from there...

With enough camber(Ihave 2.5deg) the front is not a problem, the rears will be tight though.
Wheels are 17 x 9 , 6.12 backspacing , 5 x 114.3 bc Ford Racing. They clear the Brembo's

I plan to try a set of 245/40/17 AD08's this year. I know the drifters swear by them for long lasting and I know they are similar in grip to the NT05's I ran last year...

Do you run those pads on the street?

Neat rev match trick for the SS/TC:

2nd gear: Revs x100 = speed. 20mph is 2000RPM, 50 is around 5000RPM, 43mph is around 4300RPM, etc...

1st gear: Revs = 2x 2nd gear. 10mph = 2000 RPM, 20mph = 4000RPM, 30mph = 6000RPM, etc

These work for my SS/TC and are good starting points. SS/SC will be different due to different final drive ratio.

If you're coming out of a turn at say 15mph and want to go to first, then you're going to be around 3000RPM in first gear.

This also helps when at the strip. If you shift at say 6000RPM in first, then you know you're going to land at 3000RPM in 2nd (and are also at 30mph).

That's a nice tip. Too bad us Canadians spend our time staring at a gauge with predominant markings of km/h

Mostly good to know for first gear - the rest are all pretty brain-dead to rev-match.

Just wanna say thanks for a great hour of reading. I am still overly impressed with the Cobalt in the corners, i have more confidence pushing the limits in a stock Cobalt SS/TC than i ever did with my oversized f-boat. Although now the boat has full suspension/tires so it's a dream right now

Oh and a big to you Venom!
