regular driving il wear whatever, but for agressive/spirited driving, i honestly kinda like driving w/out shoes. Just wear socks. Idk why, but i guess it just seems to work really well, yo get a really good feel of the clutch engaging, as well as the gas and the brake, just feels like i have better control, i guess imo, the best driving shoe is no shoe at all. :lol
although im sure actual driving shoes are siick, ive just never had a chance to use any real driving shoes before.
Id like to pick up a set of those piloti ones sometime, they look pretty sick

Any thin sneaker works for me. Doesn't matter to much. I'm used to driving in whatever though because I have to wear steel toes to work every day. I think I might pick up a pair of those Piloti's

I disagree, I think its easier to drive the Cobalt with big feet.....I have no idea how all the girls and guys with small feet actually drive a Balt aggressively, there is SOOO much room between the pedals.

Again...I disagree, I drive fine with my size 14 Orchids.

Ive been trying your way, at least what I think is your way for the last 2 days.......My right knee started to hurt earlier this week and your way is easier on that joint than the more traditional heel kick.

The only real problem with big feet in a Balt is that the brake and clutch are close to the floor in relation to the ball of your foot. So if you keep your heel off the floor while braking I end with the arch of my foot on the pedal and my toes up on the top of the pedal arm, right on top of the brake rod, this is bad because its greased( ALOT). If youve got big boats you need to go up under your dash and wipe of all the excess lube from the brake rod pivot. You also tend to ride with your toes on the clutch pedal lever, again not ideal, I get around this relatively easily because I tend to walk a little duck foted so its very comfortable for me to rotate my left foot towards outside of car and then use ball of my foot on clutch pedal with foot at angle going under brake pedal. Which is okay because brake and clutch are relatively far apart.

The Cobalt is far from ideal, but for big footed guys/gals its actually one of the easiest cheap cars to drive IMO. ALLL Japanese cars suck in this manner.

thats why i think the only reason Jump boots are so hard to drive in is the hobnailed leather sole, haha, no feeling at all. i had to look a couple times to make sure my feet were in the correct places. you would think habit and use would be enough, but take all tactile sense out of the equation, and its all for naught.

X2 I can drive with what everI have on my feet, I have two pairs of Puma speed cats but I hardly wear them. Hell I can heel/toe in my work boots so to me it doesn't matter.

I can drive in whatever. Runners, sandals, barefoot, steel-toed, rubber boots.

I actually like spirited driving in my steel-toed boots, because of the extra weight I have getting the clutch in.

Asics wrestling shoes is what I wear. Nothing against piloti and simpson, etc, but I have a couple of pairs of 'rasslin shoes that are perfect for track dirivng. The only downside is that they are not fire retardant.

for those still learning: shoes are extremely important once you learn to go fast. First of all you get a lot of input through the sole of your shoe during braking, and secondly it's hard to work brake and gas at the same time if you have big clunky doc martin's or workboots or whatever on. In the beginning it doesn't matter, since it's just all brake or all gas, while you're trying to convince yourself your fast, but once you become a technical driver, you begin to appreciate the right shoe.

Just a few notes. No way you can performance drive with boots or other giant shoes. As for performance driving, I don't mean drag race here...that's not performance driving....performance driving includes brakes.

Save your money and get wrestling shoes. They work just as well as driving shoes for less than 1/2 the money.

Sunday at the most recent autox I attended, there was this guy in a nice new S2000. He had all the right stuff. The cool pants, the cool shoes (see above this post) nice helmet... Yet what he needed more than anything? DRIVER MOD. He spun out on almost every run. His last run was the only one he actually got a time on. I honestly felt bad for the guy.... Oh and good return on investment for those shoes!!
