The GMPD sport pedals were an option already part of my package deal so I got them installed. I am very disappointed with the accelerator. It is as thin as a bone and aside from looking good, doesnt help with Heel/Toe or Ball/Toe shifting at all. In fact I think it would have been easier with the silly rubber stock pedals. I tried with wider souled shoes as many have suggested and still no luck.

I really dont want to have to change pedals but at the same time paid a lot of money for a HPDE this weekend and if I can't heel and toe, it doesnt even seem worth it to do it. The biggest problem seems to be how low the pedal is compared to the brake even under a decent amount of braking.

i have read the other threads on this issue but not all of them dealt with the sport pedals. First i would like to know if anyone else with the sport pedals have this issue and found a way to work on it. I have been trying to heel and toe since the day I bought the car and simply am not able to do it. I am coming from a VW MKV GTI which had a great pedal setup. Suggestions?

 

heal to toe on stock pedals isnt bad

 

mine came with them also and im going to try and trade them this winter for stock ones. autoX reasons i cant have them on the car.

if your taking a corner, and need to brake quickly, then begin to accelerate..

Same time...

Left Foot - Clutch
Right Toe - Brake
Right Heel - Gas

 

I have no problems doing it with the stock pedals, though I've been considering a set of pedals from SRP Racing. I tend to tear through the pedal covers, and I hate how sticky and then suddenly slippery the stock pedals get when wet.

Once you get used to heel-toe, it becomes second nature in any manual car. About the only thing I've had a hard time doing it in is a truck

BTW - don't ever try to use your toe on the gas and your heel on the brake. I hear this from time to time. That's extremely dangerous, IMO. You need the sensitive part of your foot to do the braking. You do not need to be very accurate with the blip of the throttle pedal, and that's all it is. Just a blip. The hard part is maintaining constant brake pedal pressure.

The stock pedals are easy to heel toe, better than any other car I have seen. They are close together and when you are braking, the brake pedal and gas pedal are at the same height and line up nicely. I think the sport pedals would be the same way.

 

Well I have been practicing on the street lol, and I am starting to get used to it, I watched a couple guys on youtube doing it and its starting to feel pretty simple. Only with your statement above the gas pedal to me feels farther back then the break pedal, and I think a cover for the gas pedal would probably suit this better (maybe) something def. worth trying out, but other than that seems to start to be getting pretty easy.

 

No, don't get any covers. It's perfectly setup so that when you're on the brakes a little harder, they are at the proper level.

You can do it while barely braking too, it's just that you need to get used to it.

I do it on every single downshift on street or track.

 

oic ok I'll leave it alone then, I find it alot of fun in a weired way lol, something really different def something not everyone knows or even does lol. One time I did it and pressed the gas a bit to much a screamed a little loader then normal and couple maintenance guys at work looked at me like wtf?!? it was when I was slowing way down lol on the street to pull into work, lol it was funny.

i've heard that some have came with them, a friend of mine has an ss with the same pedals my LT had, but i believe most had the GMPP ones...

edit: the stock LT ones look like the pic above, minus the big gas pedal lol
