Any one have any suggestions for a good track/street tires? I need to buy a new set of tires next spring anyway but I only want to spend the money on one set.

I'll most likely run my pretty much bald 'Lops. At least I am sure they will be pretty much blad by then, and after wards be completely shot.

That's what I was thinking too. Mine are getting pretty bald so I should have a set of slicks by the end of race day. lol.

With the power you're putting down, you're gonna try and run bald lops? I couldn't get them to stick well back before I started my mods. I can hang on to a pair of almost bald 'lops for you, though.

I really like the lops, but like I said, I may have another set of rims and have actual racing tires by then. Depends on a few things really.

But them being bald shouldn't make much of a difference on a dry track. It's in the wet weather that you need tread. (unless of course the material changes quickly after the tread)

I know a bit about tires, lol. The lops have seemed to get less and less sticky the more they wear, to me. Regardless, they were never a sticky enough compound, IMHO. I'm pretty sure I'm gonna have a set of race-day tires by then, myself. Gotta get my helmet yet, too. My brother is getting sick of me borrowing his, and we'll both probably be driving many a Saturday this summer, so it won't work anymore.

BFG KDW's.... I hear nothing but good things about these!

on my Neon R/T, I was running the KUMHO ECSTA SPT's, I loved them.... that's what I'll get when the stock Pirelli's go away! Excellent grip, great price.... what's not to like?

Thanks NoRemorse

I corded my Victoracers last time I was there. It was in october and I wanted to finish them out in one summer, so thats what I did . I still have 3 of them that are in fair shape. I may buy one new one or see if I can find a used one to tear up that day.

The only tire I have experience with at the track and on the street are the Bridgestone Potenza RE070's These tires perform just as well as the Victo's on the track and the wear better too. I did 2 track events and about 4 auto-x on them last summer and they dont look any worse for wear. For the street they are a little iffy in the rain. They also have an extremly hard side wall which is great for handling but not for ride, which I dont care about.

I need street tires for the summer. I am leaning towards the Bridgstone Fusion's

Here is a link to my last track day at Gingerman back in fall '05. I cant say I was very fast. I never got the lines right at turn 2 and the section around 8-9. The car was only had an intake then and springs

http://media.putfile.com/Gingerman-Fall-05

I think I was faster than the other RL there that day

great track footage.... I need to do that to analyze my own line!
your line wasen't that bad at all!!! I can try to help you w/ turns 2, 8/9..... then again I haven't been there w/ the SS/SC yet....
when I had the Neon R/T (150 hp) I was lapping w/ the modded audi A4's that were pushing 250+hp. I was catching them in the corners and they'd pull me in the straights!!!! now I think I'd beat them w/ the SS/SC

as far as the tires.... check the tire rack tests.... if I am correct the fusions were not as good as the kuhmo SPT's.... I also had yokohama ES100's and the SPT's were better

BTW... I have been using a Garmin forerunner GPS lap timing..... it's better than nothing

I think my main problem with turn 2 is that I never get on the gas soon enough and use the whole exit. 8/9 is a similar problem. I could catch up too most in the corners and keep up on the straits. The exits to the turns mentioned is where I would usually lose ground.

I will have to look into those tires

I am most likely in. I have a few random things I have signed up for in may, like standing up in a wedding, so as long as this doesn't fall on one of those days I am in. April would not work. Almost any day in June would work.

Also, I think a Monday might be best. That way those of us who need to travel out don't need to leave on a workday, and we can prep the car over the weekend.

I can't commit until you pick a day. You can count me in as long as the day doesn't fall in the first 6 or 7 days of the month.

The only Monday that would not work for me would be Memorial day. We have an auto-x that day and I wannna make it a point to run the full year in one class and make a run on the points. any onther Monday in May or any other month would be fine.

I would think memorial day might be a bit more expensive anyway, because most have it off and the rental price may be higher. Memorial day is on the 28th right?
