Gas Prices In Canada

Hey guys up in Canada, well and for the people in the states to, Gas prices are getting really crazy, so is it required that we put in the highest octane gas because in Canada we have 87, 91, and 93 so i was just wondering is it okay to put in the 87 without having any stress on the engine?? Thanks

its only 0.10 cents more per litre.

I paid 0.94 for 94 octane in Calgary. I am not losing any hp for the sake of saving $3-4 on a fuel tank.

Hey--while I have ya----bring your car out to Race City this spring for some 1/4 mile fun!

I swear I was the first and only Cobalt there

What I do is run regular in the winter when I don't punch it much anyway and run on winter tires then for the summer I run all premium. I think it takes a couple tanks to get clear all the regular out so switching back and forth often certainly isn't advised since it would be a waste.

Yea, Alberta has fuel prices of 83.9 for reg, or 89.9 for 91 octane (depending on where you fuel). As soon as you hit Sask, the prices are 95.9 for 87 and 105.9 for 91 octane. A total fill only makes a $5-8 difference for 91 over 87 octane, so i always run premium for the performance and economy as it pays for itself in MPG!

the octane level, or total fill difference? My car has a 84 L tank (whattya expect, its a V8) and it only makes a $5-8 difference, so the little Cobalt tanks shouldn't even be that much... though it may add up since the Cobalt only is a 49 L tank (all models use same size tank)... smaller engine, less fuel... hope i answered your question

Ps: I can't find where the recommended octane level is on the GM site. I coulda swore i seen it there before

Please help me understand why $ 5 per fill up makes so much differance to people. if the $20 per month average (tank a week) is the make or break in your budget...I think you may have bought the wrong car. I do not have money to burn, but if I can save five bucks a week by "granny shifting" just half the time I spend driving. I am not trying to sound like an ass, I just don't get why people purchased the higher end model for five extra grand and then want to cheap out on a possible $ 1000.oo savings in the life of the car?

With respect,
Steve.

I Agree. Nothing but Premium here. My favourite fill up was $1.58 a litre.

yesterday was 90.7 for regular. Got Ultra 94 (ALLWAYS) for 97. Not even 3 bucks more a tank. If you want I can write you a check every month. If your going to gas regular atleast gas 91.

I use Petro-Canada 91. I've been thinking about using Sunoco 94, maybe now's the time.
