Custom Tuning Results/Writeup!!

I apologize if half of what I am writing does not make sense, as I just got home and it is after 2:30am and I have been up since 8am.

Today I got my time with a Cobalt SS/SC 2.0L and it was fun. We picked up great power, and kept stock drivability and reliability. The issues of hanging rpm's at idle, part throttle are due to the ETC and HP Tuners does not have these functions yet so they will not be able to be fixed at this time.

The vehicle I worked on was a BONE STOCK 2.0L Cobalt SS/SC. The only modification was NGK V-Power Plugs 1 Step Colder with a gap of .035.

Alll comparison dyno runs were made with equal cool downs and multiple pulls to ensure accuracy. The numbers do seem high for the modifications and even the stock numbers but remember gains are gains the final number just may be a bit high.

This tune was done on 94 Octane. With our custom tune the vehicled ran a lot colder, with ECT temperatires dropping to a consistant 150-170 whereas stock is up and around the 240 range. IAT2's were about 15* colder than stock. With the injen cold air kit, IAT2 was about 4-5* colder than with the stock air box and yes, we were able to get proper readings for IAT 1. The car feels totally different from start to finish. I will have the customer post his thoughts and reactions in this thread or another

We will be offering these tunes, as a direct flash with no dyno time for $275.00 + tax's. Custom tuning fee's are $550. We will not be sending these files anywhere outside of the shop and all tunes are locked which means no one else can suck them out or reflash the pcm, including the dealer. If any fixes from GM come out, we will be able to update you. We apologize if this causes any trouble but we have put to much time into our tuning process for these vehicles to simply allow anyone access to see how we control everything

Below you will see how important it is to get a tune in stock trim and even after putting on a cold air kit.

This first graph shows the power gain over the LATEST GM Stock Flash with all fixes:

Below shows the difference between stock air fuel compared to our air fuel. This was measured BEFORE the cat using an AFM-1000 Air Fuel Meter calibrated before the dyno session:

Next we added the Injen Cold Air. As expected, the air fuel leaned out because of the larger diameter mass air housing. More tuning had to be done to get compartive numbers. Below is a comparison between our custom tune air fuel ratio and what happens when simply adding a cold air

After custom tuning, we ended up with a clean air fuel of 11.8-12.0 as we have with the stock air box.

Below are power gains of the tuned .vs. intake with tune:

Finally, the complete package. Injen CAI, Steeda.ca 94 Octane Custom Dyno Tune

Attached are some random photo's of the process. Any questions, please feel free to ask

Like I said, i have no clue why the numbers were high but the gains were impressive. If your car makes 200 stock, with the intake and tune, expect around 220 with the cold air and tune. Gains are gains.

Not only is the power huge gains, driving the car is way better. It runs way cooler and smoother. We will be doing ALL GM vehicles but one step at a time

Nothing really changed in 07, so as long as your VIN is in the database this tune applies to you.

It applies to all 2.0L SS/SC vehicles, Ion Redline, etc

Why do I keep hearing that GM changed the files or remapped the ECU and *****?? Getting a tune is gonna be my biggest concern as of now. Especially since I am getting a ZZP 3" pulley and hub put on next weekend and possibly 45lb injectors..HELP

Just make sure it is under 12.0.

We are offering our tunes for $250 which is extremely affordable and takes away all the headaches of having to tune your own vehicle.

If you want, bring the car by and I can compare the stock tunes/ They may have changed some things, but the motor, blower, etc is still the same

It is probally just an updated pcm flash.

I'm thinking the same thing about the distance. If I found out that there really isn't any differences in the ECU, maybe we can work up a bad azz deal. Badg1rl had asked if I was heading up to CA next Friday...What days are you at that shop? If it's easier and you're gonna be there then I could get an address from ya for the shop and head up on Friday early...It's all gravy. Just let me know

I am at the shop Mon-Sat.

For a good, safe reliable tune distance is nothing. We get customers from Calgary, Halifax, New York, New Jersey, Detroit.

There is a lot more to tuning than what you see from air fuel and power. Let me know how I can help

well most ss sc's put down 210-220+ on almost every dyno chart ive seen, non the less the gains are evident and with my suppoting mods this tune will will really wake the beast up.

Hey bro I can get 3 pulls w/AFR 5 minutes from me. If you want, make a little hour and a half trip up here i'll pay for your pulls and mine if you could tune my car. Hows that sound?

I'll let you know how everything turns out tomorrow... and see what I can do...
oh and I know how much more there is than just AFR and power.... I have many many many hours into my car on tuning alone.... sucker runs bad-ass and I drive it to work in manhattan everyday... so driveability was a big issue with me.,... but all is good... I just need to smooth out my afr...

great numbers....but kinda hard to believe since intense, zzp, etc. have been working with our cars for a while now and haven't seen anything like this. Do you mind posting the log files from HP Scanner?

Intense Stage1 only make 235HP and you made 244HP, hmmm?
