Former owner poosibly another owner soon...advice and thoughts?
So I owned a 2005 red SS/SC right off the line. I loved it, but due to a long commute I rarely drove it and in the last year of ownership, the purchase of a house was the final nail in the debate to keep it. I sold it and missed it, but never regretted it since it was the right thing to do at the time. Fast forward to 2010 and My commuter car ('97 SF GT...ugh) and '68 Corvair have filled in the slots for a few years, but I think the Sunfire needs a replacement. In regards to pricing, Not that long ago SS/SC's with around 80k kms were going for $12-14k, lately on kijiji a real nice '05-'06 can be had in the $9500-10000 range. I'm sure with a bit of dickering $9000 isn't impossible.
I'd like to avoid the '05's as mine had a few growing pains (interior silver plastic falling off, gunmetal wheels paint flaking, front end clunking) I'm sure there are tons more.
Being out of the scene for a few years, I'd like some advice as for things to avoid, what to look for (G85?) what options were available later in life (I remember after '05 the radio was improved, I don't recall how) and anything else you could steer me toward.
Also on pricing, I know enough not to go for the cheapest one, but are there reasons for the sudden drop off in price? I know we're talking GM here, but it seems to have tanked in the last 6 mo. or so.
Any other advice or thoughts would be great, Maybe a line on a few for sale would help, or good places to check out. (curbsiders on Kijiji always kinda scare me)
Thanks for the help, it's appreciated!!

Hey dude I totally remember you from back in the day. I just got into a brand new 2010 SS myself. I was the guy with the white C5 Vette
The difference between the supercharged and the turbocharged versions is noticeable.
Anyway you could swing a 2008? I know you would be happy if you did.
My take on the cheaper prices is this.....its 2010, new decade, new ambitions. After christmas especially when the bills start coming in, people need cash and want to sell.
Its a great time to buy....... I am even looking at buying a 06/07 for my girlfriend.

Well, I just bought an 06 SS/SC in Saskatchewan for $11,900...
But you said you want the 07+ car, saw a few around here when I was looking for $13-14k but you could probably work them down a bit.

My best guess would be the Introduction of the ss tc had allot to do with it but also all this 05 factory waranties and some of the 06 should be running out on almost all of them if the kms aren't maxed allot of the 4 year warranties surely have. Allot of people ditch them because they don't want to pay for all the little problems that seam to arrise. And since there likely paid off 9000 is. Pretty sweet down pAyment for a new toy. Just my thoughts...
