June 24th - GIMILI TEST AND TUNE

I plan on going. A few guestions.

What is the cost to me?
Do I need a helmet?
What time should I be there?
What can I expect?
Is this huge? alot of cars?
How many runs might I get in?
Where do I find out more info. I guess would be good enough?

- $40 to test and tune.

- Helmets only needed if you're running faster than 14.00, so you probably won't need one.

- Your time will depend very much on your launch and your 60' time. I was there on June 9 and I did not read up on how to properly launch my car. I was babying it off the line, hence my 60' times blew ass and so did my 1/4 time. Apparently the 2.4L needs to be launched hard and the clutch dumped at a much higher RPM then I was ready for (My 2.2L Eco Sunfire launched very different). I'll be going back to try and get a better time out of 'er.

- I haven't really been to Gimli enough to say how busy it was on June 9. I only stayed for a couple of hours and got in 4 runs. There was a delay when a Mustang blew up his tranny.

- It wasn't huge and there weren't a ton of cars on June 9. Opening Day is a different story apparently. I only stayed for a couple of hours and got in 4 runs. There was a delay when a Mustang blew up his tranny.

Well i dont know. I have a drop in filter, air box mod, eibach sportlines (help for lauch) and stickers good for another 50hp. I might break 14 sec. LOL

I am really going to get a base line for when I do mod this car I can see how much its improved.

It's all planned out for Patricia Beach, but I'll see how things play out. I might make a stop in if I'm feeling up to it. No promises though.

Yeah that would be good, I have a function to go to and I have to be back for 3:00 or 3:30 at the latest. Depending when they start I may not go. hopefully we could do the morning. and be out of gimili by 1:30 or 2:00 which would be great for me. I am just wanting to get some baselines before I mod the car. First mod? - I am looking at HP TUNERS software. then I will get parts and tune as I go.

Despite what their website schedule says, they did not start running last T&T until noon. By about 2:30 I had 4 runs in. I would probably plan on showing up at around 11.

That is dumb maybe we should show up for earlier with bolt cutters and crank out some runs on our own.

Only need a helmet if faster then 14.00, even then if you're high 13's usually they don't notice and if they do you get warnings, to brng a helmet next time.

We're going for 9:30, so we can take advantage of the colder air and hopefully be the fastest FWD in Manitoba.

Expect to have a hell of a lot of fun

Not huge at all, maybe 100cars, sounds like much to some but half of them sit in the pits all day and don't make a pass, most are v8 guys waiting for sunday's race day.

On a average day with out accidents or other delays, 10+ runs is about the norm, at least has been with me.

For more info you can contact Gimli Motorsport Park (204) 642-6697

$10 to watch, you can walk around the whole track, so you can go look at all the cars if you like

Well those who did not come you missed a super opportunity to get some runs in. I was not pressured to get up and get going in line to run again. I go 6 runs in and that took less than 2 hours. I truly recommend it and I learned alot with the help from all people at the track especially Pablo and friends. Thanks PAVEL, for the invite and to your friends for making my day one to remember.

Next time I go I strongly recommend more Cobalts to come out. even to just watch if you dont want to run. you will see alot. The facilities were top notch for the day. show up for noon and leave around 2 and you will have seen quite a few cars, bikes, and snowmobiles run. I can get you setup and teach the basics that I learned to have a great day.

I was so surprised at how much you improved by your later runs, I think your 60ft was in the 2.6 range at the begining and at the end when you were beating up on that civic it was a 2.26 I think. Congrats on your times and thanks for comming out, everyone thought your car looked hot

I have to say that Pablo and company attributed much to my times. they coached me along to get their with great advice from their own strip experience. Pablo is correct on my times by the way I just finished looling at my runs and taking from each I came up with my best and worst. It is not as easy as it seems and you soon learn that your input in the slighest area makes a huge difference.

I learned it is possible to beat a 14.2 car vs a 14.7. A mustang GT stock was there and I almost beat him. I ran a 14.8570 and he ran 14.5910. if I managed a perfect run. Due to my better reaction time we were .1831 seconds apart! super close.

.................................BEST.........WORS T
Reaction.....................0.6421.......1.3429
60FT..........................2.6669.......2.2689
1000ft......................12.9851.....12.9851
1/4..........................15.3491......14.7660
1/4 mph...................95.51..........97.19
