i ran 15.45 at the track, modded i should be 15.2-3 now...

Three years ago I ran my frinds bone stock 86 Auto Vette, luckily I keep track of all my slips in a spreadsheet, so here it is.

60ft......2.133
330ft....6.236
1/8th....9.568@75.79
1000ft...12.421
1/4.......14.898@91.86

Now this car wouldn't even spin the tires if you tried, it would just kind of squat down and go, to tell you the truth it felt sloow, I was very surprised it was running high 14's all day long.

Every car has a differental. its mounted inside the transmission on a front wheel drive car. On a rear wheel drive car its the big "pumpkin" you see at the center of the rear axel.

There are 2 types of Differentals LSD (limited slip differental)and a open diff.

A open diff is simply just that, if 1 tire is on ice and the other is on pavement 100% of the power is transfered to the tire on the ice cause it has the lease resistance.

On a car with a LSD some of that power would be transfered to the tire on the pavement because inside the differental there are gears, springs that make sure that there is always power going to each tire. It may not be 50/50 but it will be a hell of a lot better than 0/100

And the other type of diff is the "lincon Locker" these are primarily found on 4X4 mud trucks when you ALWAYS want 100% of the power going to each tire. This makes the trucks HELL to turn because the inside wheel while turning left or right will be spinning the same speed as the outside tire but will be doing it on a much smaller radius.

I currently have a lincon locker on the front and rear of my toyota truck.
To make one you simply pull out the "Lincon" welder and weld the **** outta the gears on the diffs LOL

Thinking about it....yes from a roll it should be a good race. Not sure what a chip or tune will do to the car, but chances are it's beat to sgit and only making 120 wheel horse.

You needed to get the G85 to get LSD. Or so I was told when buying my car because i wanted lsd but wasnt sold on the recaro's. the dealer offered to get me LSD with no recaro seats by switching the seats with another balt.

Now I have no idea the level of BS in this. i don't trust salesmen but they were willing to "rip the seats out and switch them" if I wanted... So I don't know.

yet another topic to discuss for lunch. Gonna get you educated on Spools, Lockers (there are many), LSD or POSI trac as some may have heard it called, and Open diff. Best example of a spooled diff is look at a quad racer. solid axle with a gear.

If I get a jeep I will put in slip in Lockers by powertrax. an automatic locker. better than LSD for locking up like a spooled rear end. when you get on the gas and the power comes on and then it locks. so you dont want to hit the power when doing a uturn on the street. you can potentially cause damage.

Dane you are correct. The Recaro Perf Pkg. was bundled with the seats and LSD., for 2006 and part of 2007 only I believe. For a few 2007 models, the LSD was available without the Recaro seats (like it is in the HHR and TC) as GM phased them out that year while still offering the Quaife LSD. I just Quaifed.

Out of the whole group buy we did last year, the only person who didn't get a single sheet for the whole back window was Juan. We all go the bubbles, including him.
All you have to do is give it a few days to settle, and then run the squeegy (sp?) brush back over it with a cloth and it should stick up fine. That's all they did when some of us went back.

So... the car is in peaces in my garage! LOL!
Thanks a ton Wes for the help this morning. Saved me a ton of time by letting me borrow your tools. Really appreciate it.
But alas now I'm stranded.. It would seem I misplaced the gasket that goes between the header/dp and now I can't put it back together... Hahahaha *sigh

Don't fret though! My savier Mat is on his way to pick me up so we can go out and buy some stuff, finish up my car, and then work on his.

Well... My exhaust is back together (finally located a gasket after much running around, thanks again Mat!)
Turns out the exhaust wasn't the cause of the noise I was hearing... could have been the CEL though. Forgot to get the CEL cleared so I can't see if whatever caused it is still happening too.

In any case.. I guess I'm taking the car back to the dealer on Monday to check it out.

I ******* hate little kids who think just because I have a Cobalt I am slow and wantt to race me. I am getting sick of it. I was just talking with stef on the phone and she was being driven to a bar by some randoms and it goes

stef: ya i am in a yellow mustang it is nice like your cobalt (hear random mumbles about "cobalt" in backround). It is like supercharged too (stef loves to tell me every car is supercharged either to impress me or make me jealous).

me: ya cool

stef: (guy in backround "ask him if he thinks he can beat an rsx-s with cams, exhaust and" some other random stuff that I didn't remember)

me: ask him if he has a little ***** because I don't give a ****

This almost happens on a daily basis with guys who she knows. So now I am lined up to race a 240SX in bad condition, this rsx-s and the random yellow mustang. The rsx could be interesting but it is not turbo or s/c so not sure what will happen. raced one that had exhaust and it was no contest. The turbod ones can be awesome though i heard.

**** though why does everyone want to race me as soon as they find out I have a cobalt?

pablo and p1llar do you ever get bugged like this with the srt4?
