Manitoba SS's 2012 thread
Ive always been a fanboi of vpower but since I got the interceptor ive been seeing up to 2.9 at half throttle and up words of mid 5's at WOT. After trying husky 94 yesterday im seeing 0 at WOT and a very minimal amount around half throttle.
Only downside is the closest husky with 94 is 25min away from me

Yeah i notice the same thing from time to time. Its tuned for 93oc thats likely why. Vince probably doesnt take into account we primarily have 91 here!
I Run husky when i go to the track but thats it. Im not beating on my car so i dont really get into Retard situations haha.
If i were you keep using Vpower and just fill with husky when your near one. if you always have half a tank you should be a little better than 91oct at all times but still get the benifits of the V.

Usually fill Shell in my car because after 350 litres I get a free car wash. But filled Husky once. Doubt it makes a difference with stock tune.
Also what are your opinions on short throw shifters? I heard they help smooth out the shifts a lot. I hate the clunky feeling going threw the gears. Would it be more similar to a new Civic? I work at Honda and can't get over how nice they are for shifting.
Thanks.

Dont know about a new civic... But the TMW STS is quite nice. Dont own one but i have had the chance to use one. Much tighter feel. There are pricy however. The shifts become barely a flick of the wrist which is nice.
Other STS like the hurst one shorten the throw but dont do much for the clunky feeling. You could always just buy the base bushings From TMW as they supposedly help with that a fair bit. 35$ its a cheap mod!
Garret your thoughts?

Yeah 10% ethenol is not a big deal. Direct injection likes it except for the additional fuel demands lol.
Your car stock has 2 Timing tables. You could tecnicalyl run Basic... however you will be on the **** timing table and its not a good idea to run anything less that 90oc. Premuim will get you more power on the base tune because of this!

If your having trouble finding gears on stock shifter trying adjusting the cables. There is a how to somewhere on here. The next step I took was the tmw base bushings and they did make it alot stiffer more confident feeling.
Still not happy though I got a used hurst sts incoming I'll let you know how that goes.
I just couldn't stand to spend the 500+ for tmw

I have a easy time shifting and finding gears. It all works fine. It just doesn't go into gears as smooth as I think it could when comparing it to a Si.
Bushings are probably a good idea though since I don't find the throws bad but would just like it smoother.
Thanks.

Same here. We had 3 huskys in transcona at 1 point now we dont have any.
I have the TWM with upgraded bushings and cable clamp and absolutely LOVE it!! If I hadnt been able to basically try it out in my car for free I would never have been able to justify paying what they go for. With that being said knowing what I know now I would buy one in a heartbeat! By far is my favorite 'mod'!

Ill bet the Base bushings Plus the Hurst would be good. a shorter throw in combination with that Stiffer feel would likely be good.
The hurst on its own is just a shorter throw from what i have read...
People cant stop raving about the TMW though. After Dave let my try his i have to agree.
Not a 400$ mod though not IMHO. If you could get a used one for like 200-250 though....

I have done enough drag racig to not downplay dropping three to four tenths ~ I might be able to eek another thenth or two out of my E/T, if I could figure out how to pull a better 60' ~ but that fact nothwithstanding, I need to change something on my car...
I just came to realize (which was followed by a ton of research) that my current (dialed in) tune is calling for 100% boost - which, on my car (as it sits) seems to be at about 22psi;
I am going to look into some mechanical deviations from stock to get the car to maybe 24psi...
Mechanical deviations which probably won't all entail R&R'ing anything...
Which should hopefully satisfy me till I can pull the LNF equivalent to your TVS...
I sure hope you're right...
I was thinking a little while ago, that a good mod might be to have a flush mounted piece of (??) gauge steel, that would sit directly under, and reinforce the lower lip...
I hear that rabbit's can do a SERIOUS number on our lower lips...

Jon no offense but your 60ft sucked dink your last run at the track. For every tenth you pick up in your 60ft you pick up 2 tenths in the quarter. You can run all the power you want but if you can't stick it to the ground your times will still suck. It's harder to make good times with more power also.
I hit the thing dead center in my bumper. Thought for sure the bumper and heat exchanger were done. Nope! Even my lower black valence that almost drags on the ground stayed entact lol.

Awe - come on...
Even though Edmonton is at a lower elevation than Calgary, it still is at 2,210ft(?; wikipedia say Leduc is at @2,411ft - but the calculator says 2,210!?!??!);
Calculated Density altitude was 3,078ft
http://www.dragtimes.com/da-density-...calculator.php
According to the calculator, your track is at 712ft.
And believe it or not, I generally run on par, or better with other people whom I run with ~ so my 2.2xx wasn't that terrible...
I mean my tires are nothing special ~ they are DR's, but as you guys pointed out, probably on the wrong sized rime - which might cause ballooning ~ and they are probably five or more years old.

Cool track surface + elevation = crappy 60'
I'd be happy to be able to pull consistent 2.1xx's on street tires... then I can aspire to shaving another tenth off my 60'... baby steps my friend!
I met an old friend that night who had purchased a G8 GT... the car wasn't stock;
and he was pulling (iirc) 2.1xx, and the odd 2.0xx ~ but he has easily quadruple the experience at the track than me - and he was running a RWD car... which as we all know is more aptly setup for launching...
Ok, I gotta call it a night!!
Just so we all understand how the husky gas works, They add 10% ethanol to their blend because its a cheap alternative to increase the octane level of their fuel.
So the 94 (e10) is really a 91 octane with 10% ethanol, and so forth down their line of gasoline.
Its a good option if you tune for it, But if your running any sort of Can/Factory tune you will notice no effects of the gasoline.
And Vince is very aware of the 91 Octane here in Canada.
Also, that 10% they blend into their gas will decrease your MPG by about 1-2 MPG. Obviously if your filling with 94 thats the least of your concerns, but if your using any of their other gas be aware that your actually getting less fuel mileage out of your vehicle.
