My best (with no nls btw);
13.985 @ 103.05mph

This was with a 2.302 60' - so I might have another tenth in it... but it was my first time at this track...

Congrats. Not bad. You might have another tenth in it with a 2.3 60 ft? You've got lots left. Launch that thing!

I can't for the life of me figure out how to pull a 2.200 or better yet a 2.1xx 60'

I'd love to know what I'm doing wrong...

maybe I need to figure out how to nearly bog it at launch...

You don't want your car to bog. You are on drag radials. A 2.0 60ft should be a breeze. I did a 2.20 60ft with pretty much no first gear because my clutch was slipping baaaad. Do a nice big burnout, rev the car to 4k and slip the clutch out. If it bogs keep going up 500 rpm until it doesn't. I bought a spare axel to take with me to the track this year. I'm going all out.

the biggest difference, and I mean absolutely no offense, is that your car is making what 200ft/lbs? - I'm well in excess of 300ft/lbs

I ended up launching by ear - not by any number- and found that it was easy to boil them off at launch.

my worst 60' from the night was a 2.482 - my best was a 2.265

... that being said, I am all ears for suggestions... I should probably write this down, and try it when ever I next make it up there.

200ft lbs? I'm running a TVS... Try closer to 300. Look at cmiller. The guy launches his LNF at 7k and lays 1.7 60 fts making wayyyy more power than either of us. If you are spinning launching your car hard you either are just dumping the clutch out of the gate or your track prep is ****.

Also a side note, I may not make as much tq as you but I make INSTANT boost. Numbers aren't everything. And that's why my best time with my M62 is 13.64@106. With a 2.2 60ft and slipping clutch. Making I would say 280whp/250wtq. It's all about power under the curve.

Stay tuned for TVS numbers once I get my tune 100%

oh?

I don't recall you running a TVS (probably haven't been paying close enough attention... because that's now sounding familiar.) - but I thought that even TVS cars max out around 250ft/lbs...

re: cmiller - he did the brake swap (eg: got rid of brembos) - runs a legitimate slick, not a pansy drag radial... and everything else aside, his 28lbs is going to make a fair difference after launching than my observed 21lbs...

everything aside, a (still supercharged) LSJ car is going to need a totally different launch technique than an LNF car ~ regardless to bolt ons or what ever...

iirc, my crappiest launches were from using launch control...

I definitely didn't have my runs optimized, and I will try your suggestion a couple times when ever I next am able to make it to castrol... it's really too bad that it's roughly 3 hours away...

Lol you need to go into the dyno thread and see what guys run with TVS's if you think max they make is 250wtq. I was making that with my M62.

I know cmiller is on slicks but the principal is the same. If you think bogging your car out off the line so you don't spin is the way to go then you will forever be slow. Both zrated89 (fastest blown cobalt on here) and cmiller launch the living hell out of their cars to lay the 60ft times they do. With a drag radial you just can't push it as hard.

I'm running street tires and getting pretty similar 60fts as you are. Are you trifecta tuned or just gms1? Perhaps your Overkill in first gear as far as boost goes? Is the altitude at your track higher than ours? Thinner the air the less whp you would be making and the more torque due to the engine adding boost to compensate. Albiet that depends what tune your running. More torque early on would make launching hell.

Dustin your supercharged gives you that instant torque but it comes on linear where as we have an instant lack Of torque then it all comes in before 3000rpm making it finicky as hell to get a launch right. 200 rpm can be the difference between grip and roasting your tires not as easy to manage with your right foot for traction.

What size are your radials sound junky? I'm assuming there 225-45-17 on factor NA rims?

Sure don't!

Actually Jon after Dustin asking the size of your radials, I'm pretty sure they are 245's iirc? That's too big of a tire on a 7" rim. Your tires are probably ballooned and having less contact patch then they should. Definitely not helping things anyways.

Well Winnipeg Wheel just got back to me.

$495 for a set of for (pending confirmation) - that's a TON cheaper than locally ~ which is $800 for the same set.

track was roughly 2k ft;
DA was putting it more around 4k iirc

When we had a track, it was at roughly 3500ft, and DA normally put it around 6K++ ft...

So it was totally different from what I'm used to for sure...

IIRC 245/35/18 BFG Drag Radial (discontinued)

Those are the SC wheels.

I don't think they're ballooning - I seem to have fairly even tread wear...

but the ballooning idea could be a good one...
This is hte second great thought/idea you've thrown my way...

maybe that's a good enough excuse to swap them onto a spare set of TC rims...
(just gotta get them all fixed up nicely first)

I was running about 25psi

In the picture your sidewalls push out quite a bit. Try dropping your tire pressure to 18psi next time. Radials seem to work well in the 16-19 psi range.

yeah by that pic those rims are definitely too small for your tires. The biggest i would go on a 7" rim is 225
7.5 245 is even pushing it. (the bulge is still there)

Notoriously lower diameter tire wall radials are not nearly as sticky as a taller wall. A 15-16 Radial with a 55-60 side wall would be ideal. Brembos obviously screw that however. 17X8 Rims would be a good find with 245-45 radial.

Those tires must be rare cause i have never seen them before

Honestly I never put too much thought into this...

I did a "bump" for a member here who was selling them at a smoking deal;
He said he didn't want to ship... long story short, he shipped them for me

there is a little bulge ~ but maybe a half inch woder rim would make a big difference.

I haven't noticed anything on the tread pattern to indicate that I wasn't getting good patch... but after some thought I'm leaning towards totally agreeing with you...
At the end of the day, I am getting no better 60' times with these stickier tires than old winter treads...
Here I was thinking that it was simply driver incompetence

Yeah, I have everything to do the front brake swap (seriously), but I'm just not (yet at least) committed to it...

and then these tires came along, which were a great alternative to running worn out tires, or wrecking good street tires.

You could consider them rare - iirc they were discontinued circa 2009.
IIRC Mickey Thompson is the only company to currently offer anything like these ~ all the older offerings have been discontinued.
I have a set of BFG 215/60/14 DR's for my GA - which are even older ~ having been discontinued somewhere in the early 2000's
On one hand it sucks - but it just means that you're being pushed into running a street tire, or committing to a dedicated slick...
(imho track tires are a giant waste of cash)

1) its raining outside, so people cant ride their machines, great time to bring them in.

2) first day back from a long weekend.

3) it was a full moon last night, all the weirdo's are out

Well you aren't putting any mileage on them that you would really notice abnormal tread wear. But between stuffing them on those rims and running high tire pressure the contact patch on the outer edges won't be nearly as good. And iirc the pic I saw of the tread when you bought them there wasn't much life left in them either haha.

ah it won't be too bad today. When it rains people cancel appointments and stay dry haha. Apparently yesterday was nuts. Glad I had it off lol.
