All i hear on this board is going back for this, going back for tuning

I tell customers my advice is not BS, it is from years of experience and thousands of cars. A car does not need to be tuned so many times if done right the first time

11.6 is way rich? Umm, no......not considered way rich in my books

Turn the pump off, see what happens....depending on the jet of the kit, u could end up over 12.0

to me, 10.0 is rich

I was hitting 12.6 at one point with no knock and no timing being pulled... and that was at full boost on a 90+ degree day.... I don't doubt your tuning knowledge... just sharing my experience with this car... damn I miss my carbs.... damn fuel injection nitemare

If you were in a shop, with someone tuning that car over an AFR of 12.0 they deserve to be shot. Never in a million years would I run a power adder car over 12.0..and Nitrous, even richer.

1. If you can hear knock, it is already to late

2. just because the car has not blown up on the spot at 12.6 does not mean it is ok..this will blown up I bet my life on it if you continue to run a mixture above 12.0

well I was tuning it so if anything happens it's my fault... I meant the knock sensors were not registering any knock.... no hiccups// and the car runs fine... plus I hardly ever get on it... so for now I figure its all good. but I'll be playing with it tonight and probably richen it up a bit.
thanks for the advice

is water meth safe for the blower or will my blades get all chewed up after time?

1. The knock sensors may not pickup knock because they are crap. I would never trust those things regardless of anything.

2. Simply because you are not hearing/seeing any knock, does not mean running that AFR is safe. Anything above 12.6 on a blower car will generate way to much heat and is not even the most efficent AFR for a power adder vehicle

3. 12.6 is the optimum AFR for a N/A vehicle....anything above this on N/A does not really make more power

I am offering my advice to help you, not to start a war back and forth.

Were you running on a dyno tuning this car and the operator did not say anything? What dyno was it at if any?

thats what the meth inj is for.... heat that is... didn't tune on a dyno yet.... few weeks... money is short right now. I agree with you on what you say.. I'm new to the world of s/c fuel inject.. I'm used to 6-71 blown small blocks with twin carbs.. and I"ve never had a problem tuning with around a 11.8-12.3 afr but when I hit the dyno for tuning... I'll take your advice. I'll actually be tuning at mustang magic, so I"ll be with the cobra guys to see how they run their afr's.

We spray under the blower for a few reasons.

1. Spraying into boost, reduces the air charge by a greater value and keeps the IAT2 temp's consistant. Simply reducing the ambient temperatre (spraying before the blower) does not have anywhere near the same effects

2. We feel, along with some manufacturers, that over time there is a possability of minimal wear on the rotor coatings. By spraying underneath, into boost/intercooler there is way less chance of getting the mixture onto the rotors

A carb. car is no different. A gasoline engine is a gasoline engine and approriate AFR's do not change. The only time you can get away with something like 12.1-12.2 is if you were running C16, which has a totally different chemical composition than petrol/meth mix and is for short blasts at the track. And usually, most racers end up building their motors every few races.

The Magic guys are a great crew. You will see they do not go above 12.0

I'm just waiting for either the price to go down a little, ripp to make my set, or I break em... but I don't shift hard or launch the car so I think they should hold out for a bit...

You can use washer fluid (-20 deg 30% meth/ 70% water) I top it off everyday just to be safe I usually don't go through to much but if I'm racing or testing I go through quite a bit.

interesting...the thing is my car is a daily driver, 12 months outta the year, and im not too sure i want to worry about top ups and running outta meth, or the pump fails, running 94 isnt that big of a deal, if there is a way where i can run my setup with my 2.7 and the rest of the hardware, ie, 60 pound injecters/harness, i would prefer to go that route, only for the sake that i dont wanna be stuck in a really bad situation and i dont wanna have to worry about the water/meth in freezing temps or snow storms lol
with a 2.7 us canadians get about 140 kpa which is about 18-19 psi roughly, so meister, if you beef up my tune and can make things happen with my desired setup on 94 that would be great, its just for me i think ill worry about the water meth too much over the winter months...

Well if you leave your tune for pump gas nothing will go wrong... you'll still see some good gains leaving the tune alone. If you use your washer fluid res... it's over a gallon and I don't see it going that fast... also you won't need it to come on as aggressivly as I do and it won't be used as much... It only comes on at a certain maf voltage and you can set it to only come on under full boost which as a daily driver I don't see much... my car is also my daily driver (I drive into manhattan every day from L.I.)

see now this is where im confused, if you can set it to come on at a certain time, then why do you have to tune for it if it donst come on unless at wot or at a certain maf voltage, so my question is you tune for water/meth, but what if yer not using it under normal driving conditions???
or is there always something goin through the system, once again sorry for all the questions, i just wanna learn as much as i can before i make a 100 percent commitment, thanks to all.

Well the only time you have to worry about anything is under WOT or full boost during normal driving its not needed unless your runnnin a crazy amount of timing...
