Calgary - random talk thread
... zoomer did email me back;
apparently there is a discount applied to itmes in the cart today;
i logged back on to check it out...
the item i wanted the most was marked down yesterday to 207 from 269;
today the discount marks the same item down to 243...
don't get me wrong, a discount is great, but in my opinion their site prevented me from ordering at the $207 price - now having to pay $243 because I was unable to get on early enough to accomidate their site glitches during checking out is rather deflating.
Does anyone know if they have sales again akin to black friday right after christmas?
(when typically people aren't spending money)
becaue right now, i am kinda miffed, and spending an extra $36 because of a problem on their end doesn't appeal to me...
(and i am not going to whine and waste zoomers time about this)

i have always thought that interceptors were a waste...
they show info that can be useful - but how many people actually tune using interceptor info?
... i'm guessing almost none;
the interceptor uses the same obd port that hpt needs to datalog and tune - while other gauges can be wired into hpt.
has anyone modified a coupe pillar, and added an rpd to a sedan before?
because they can be wired in...
the HHR monted the rpd on the dash...
and the rpd does show additional info that hpt can see & use...
thoughts?

The nice thing about an interceptor is that you don't always have your HPT plugged in, and you certainly aren't watching it during a pull or race. Say you have the interceptor set to monitor knock retard, and you set the alarm to go off at a certain amount. You get in a race and you are banging through the gears and something happens, whether that be a vacuum line popped off the wastegate or developed a leak and boost goes sky high, you nip a spark plug for some reason, you got a bad tank of gas, etc.. That red light will light up in your face and you will back off the gas and save your engine. Or say you are monitoring fuel trims while cruising around and you get a tear in a coupler or your maf screws loosen up or any sort of unmetered air issue, you'll notice that your trims are way off when glancing at your gauge. Or you set a boost alarm if the boost gets to a certain range on a cold night, or monitor intake temps so you aren't creating the sun inside your engine on a long pull. You can set alarms for any monitored function. Its just a nice peace of mind knowing that you can have something warn you if it has surpassed its comfort limit without you having to stare at the gauge mid pull.
I have one, but it hasn't been in my car for years due to some issues with it, so I am unbiased here lol, its just a nice piece to have in the car.

Yea it would be for the above reasons too. Mainly now I need to buy 2 gauges lol. I have a dual pod on the way as well as I have the speedometer cluster with a single gauge pod.
Not a bad idea. I had never heard or seen these before
What is everyone running for brake pads?
The previous owner of my car had the rear pads and rotors (OEM parts) done like 5k ago but they are grinding so I want to switch out those shitty OEM pads.

RPD is good for a canned tune with minor bolts ons. Nothing more.
Especially if you don't have hpt to drive around with hooked up all the time.
