A drag race where they don't prep the track so it's more like a street race

oh, that's kinda lame...
the prep helps your 60', and often aids one in getting traction over the evil wheel hop.

It makes it about driver skill and car prep not glue

it still is about the car, and driver;
you're more likely to break something with an improperly prepped track...

No prep is as close to street racing as one can get without being on the street

What's up?

I moved to Red Deer in November, but I still spend every 3rd week in Chestermere for now. I'll be back Thursday to Sunday if anyone wants to get a coffee or beer.

You say that as though street racing is the end-all of racing...

I'll take safe closed track racing any day...
And my prior post on wheel hop is legit...

Edson was just a summer thing in 2013, I finished school in 2014 and I went to Grande Prairie for the last two and a half years.

Work shut my segment down due to the oil prices so I asked for a transfer to red deer so I could be closer to home. I like it way better here. New job, new city, more money, better schedule, and way closer to home.

fair enough.
if looking to get a place solo, I'd suggest baby steps;
Start off in a condo or side by side - generally you can get into them cheaper - but be wise like my names-sake, who looked at the area he was buying into - location is of paramount importance when buying into smaller property...

I'd be buying for me and the GF. Nothing too big, 3 bed 2 bath, garage, yard, and finished basement.

This is not a knock;
I have heard that one of the biggest problems with our generation is that we need to have it all now...
I like the anti-materialism movement where people are intentional about having less/smaller;
I find I am somewhere inbetween both extremes;
I don't yearn for a larger house/yard/garage ect - I am content.

I hear friends, and even some family who say, "oh you need a bigger X", and just shake my head...

Most of us grew up in 900 square foot houses, got lugged around in midsized/compact cars, and we all fared well...

I was lucky, when I got into the housing market I went in with family - getting approved for a mortgage on two incomes is alot easier than on one.

I'm looking at buying in another 2-3 years. I want to put 20% down so I can avoid CMHC insurance fees.

I'd like a smaller house as it would just be the two of us and some pets for a few years. We don't plan on kids anytime soon, at least 6-7 years for that.

Is the amount of work picking up again around there?

/\ nope
We're stuck in a quagmire of left-leaning governments who see natural resource production as evil - as can be seen by the anti-oil-lobbyist that the current administration hired to oversee natural resources...

and no, I am not making this up.
