Well I was outside most of the day. The plant had a major upset and we had to take the unit down.

silly boy, i worked at dt distributions, the major tire wholesaler in northern alberta for 2 years.

side wall has little to no affect on snow tires, the tread compound, overall softness, and sipping are the main intrigal parts in a snow tire. INFACT on a lower sidewall, the weight of the car opens the sips more allowing for BETTER traction, not to mention the fact u lose almost no handling ability when u stay at ur normal tire size.

heres a question splitimage........ will a lowered car affect how it acts in snow??? my sunfire is slammed, and on studded winter tires, and it completely sucks in snow...... not from bottoming out, but from no traction, and spinning.

thats a really good question, and tough really.

first off, with studdded tires i would NEVER run them on a lowered car.

secondly, a studded tire is still only as good as the tire thats is studded (i.e. 25$ canadian tire special winter+studs doesnt = good)

More then likely your traction loss has to do with the camber. If you dropped it and didnt add a camber kit your basically driving like this / \ which greatly takes away from the tires ability to control the car. What it can also do is open interior sipping while leaving the outside of the tire almost weightless, greatly reducing its ability to attain and retain traction. If thats the case, your tires are affectively pulling inwards on themselves, yet at the same time are on an angle that forcefully pushes then away. its like 2 siblings fighting over a donut, not good
