It's not the snow per say it's the idiots in there SUV/Trucks that are the morons. We barley had snow a couple of weeks ago and everyone was driving like there was a foot and now that we have a foot they are driving like its dry and 20 degrees and at excessive speeds hence the end result(see pic above). Drives me nuts when someone is tailgating in this type of weather.

LOL HERE HERE...

I cant believe the number of FOB's that I saw yesterday looking totally flabber ghasted at the white stuff around them!!!....

Prime Example that made me laugh for a good 5 mins...

Candace (gf) and I are heading down country hills to second cup by silver city... on the west bound far right lane there is a hyundai accent with 4 Nigerians in it sitting in one spot spinnging the **** out of the tires in first and not going anywhere and they are looking at each other totally dumb founded....

20 minutes later after getting coffee we're on our way back west bound and sure enough the same car, HASNT MOVED AN INCH and the guy is still sitting there gunning it smoking the tires in first in the same spot looking totally LOST!

LOL

I LOVE FOB'S AND WINTER :P

LOL

OH Other funny story....

So country hills east bound just on the hill down from Edgemont.... this Mazda 3 hatchback driven by a dude prolly about late 20's maybe early 30's....

some how he loses control from the far right lane, 360's on the hill and smashes the left hand curb .... jumps the curb and SNAPS! his front drivers axel... tire sitting there leaning at thie awkward 45 degree angle to the car and hes sitting there looking dumb founded...

how he did it im not sure... but 3 hours later on my drive back home hes still sitting in his car on his cell phone...

LuLz!

Area? How about the whole province?!?!

When I was driving back home a couple of days ago I counted at least 15 trucks rolled in the ditch in a 100km stretch or road. Idiots.

It was the same for me coming home from work yesterday. The problem is that people don't realise how slippery it is. I am still running the stock pirel Neros and made it home no problem. Kept the car in second with traction control on at a steady speed with lots of room in front of me. Wasn't easy but she never let me down.

Now I got her home and parked her in the driveway and left it in first with the park break on and got out locked the car and went to go inside and when I look back my car had slid off the driveway and across the street and came to a stop...no biggy but my first initial thought was WTF did I leave the break off.

The problem is is that we don't see this kind of snow fall very often and when we do people just don't know how to drive in it especially people that are from warmer climes.

Yup I got very angry yesterday at this ******* Jeep TJ who thinks because he has traction to go that everyone else should too. I swear, the next truck who tail gates me is gunna have me lookin for a paintball gun to keep under my seat..........so many morons on allseason tires getting stuck, not being able to stop on ice, sliding into cars, into poles.....couldn't we get a petition going to push the timetable of winter tires being MANDATORY in Alberta?? I know i know, it's only a small piece of the puzzle but at least it's a step forward and not back. After winter tires are mandatory there needs to be ALOT of winter driving schools available to teach these ppl how to drive in the snow........anyone who fails the course takes the bus in winter!!!

I ran the stock tires 2 years ago for one snowfall......they dont handle worth a crap, you should not be driving in snow with summer tires, go buy some winters or at least all seasons or park the car

Neros are all season tires. Yes I know they aren't that great but we don't have this kind of snow often. ALSO I was not talking about myself getting stuck, I was fine. Let some air out of the tires for more tire to road contact and you should be OK.

But you would say that the stock ss/sc tires are completely unfit for winter use?

That's what I'm going with, which sucks, and I only have 3 out of 4 winter tires right now...

I think it should be mandatory that if you live in a place that has SNOW u take a course on winter driving conditions... I'm sure it would have helped the poor FOB Nigerians that I saw... I mean it was a simple matter of letting off the gas and letting it roll back a little and trying again but yeah not this guy... smoke the tires and keep punching the gas...

They should just do wat the USA and Europe does, close the damn city when **** hits the fan and there is that much snow.........over 200 accidents yesterday, i wonder how much that cost the city VS just closing the damn city down for the most part.

What do you mean by "closing the city"? It was a Sunday, and I think people are probably going to go about their business whether someone tells them they can't or not.

i must disagree good sir, I think a large % of ppl would stay home if the city told them to, i bet that 200 or so accidents yesterday could have been as low as 50 if the city would just close things down.

By close things down, i mean malls, shopping centers, majority of grocery stores and coffee shops and fast food places, if u ABSOLUTELY NEED food or milk or something like that, 7-11's would still be open and then next day things would proceed as usual with the majority of the roads cleaned up preventing a LARGE number of accidents from happening.

I agree. It would be nice to have someone take a stand and force the city to run at a minimum threshold, but I have a hard time seeing how it can become a reality. In a capitalist democratic society, for the government to force a business to stop making money for a day doesn't sound economically sound.

you have to think of it this way, the cost of cleaning up all those accidents yesterday can't be cheep, the number has to be up in the $100,000's if not ALOT more.......so take that money the city just saved and a certain % of it can goto the businesses that were forced to shut down, that's how they do it in the USA and in Europe......wtf is wrong with Canada that they can't do the same?

****!!

General Motors has cut off new product funding to its lame-duck Saturn brand, a source close to GM says. The automaker announced last week that, as a part of its bid for low-interest federal loans, it will close or sell its Saturn unit. Most analysts say that Saturn is of limited value, however, so it appears likely that the brand will close its doors for good soon.
