He was 89 and had a major health issue for the past few years. Not the phone call I was expecting at 1030 pm. I knew it was something bad when the phone rang.

it's very easy to take people in you life for granted;
89 is a good run.

I only have one set of grandparents left ~ and God willing, they'll at least make it to 89;
they're late 70's right now.

since I have the day off (this is the first remembrance day I've had of in the 10 years I've been at this job btw);
I'm starting off with some junk food... err, breakfast;

Does anyone remeber when they sold this in Canada?
(IIRC they were called "marshmallow blasted Fruit Loops")

Does anyone recall the Rice Crispies with Marshmallows?

Since I'm out of honey nut cheerios, I have a pantry full of marshmallow-ey~goodness type cereals...

^^I've never heard of that one.

when they sold marshmallow fruit loops up here I couldn't afford to buy them (iirc they were over $7 for the small box) ~ but when kellogs discontinued them safeway marked them down to $4... so I tried them... and was hooked...
then they were gone...
then this past year I found them state-side in wallmart for something absurd like $2.50/box...

well, I got up to go do something, and my plans just changed...

hmm, maybe I'll go check out some remeberence day dealeo... anyone have a suggestion?

Sorry for your loss Jordan, I remember when I lost my grandpa to cancer at 87. That really sucked.

On another note though, I know it's two weeks in advance but I'm thinking I might try to make the trip out to Calgary on the last weekend of November - anyone up for a meet on Saturday or Sunday? (Saturday is probably better). & Mark I might have something else for you to do - congrats on getting your car back BTW.

totally random............

just did the brembos and rotors, everything was good until i attempted to remove the brembo pins on the passenger side caliper, turns out when they were installed, oem, they never lubed it with anti sieze or grease (they did the bolts for the caliper mounts.....ugh what a nightmare took two hours of w 40ing , and banging on punch's.
both ends were so locked in that the pin started to slightly bend in the middle.
Demolosihed the tip on one of the pins, smashed my index knuckle a good 8 times with hammer missing the punch tool lmao, dont matter tho bcause im going to replace both pins with new ones, get me some anti lock lube and were awsome!
what an adventure, its ALWAYS somthing tho ! right? hahaha

Shoulda been just a love tap with a proper punch and then remove by hand (release spring pressure when doing pin). Tomorrow going to get 2 new pins and some anti sieze lol.

I have understood that this is totally normal.

I have understood that over time those pins do get stuck - which is a part of the reason why you're *supposed* to do at least yearly brake service/inspection - at which time the pins need to be lubed...

I also read that we're supposed to flush our brake systems yearly - as there is something about the aluminum brembo calipers that create a condition of sludged up brake fluid to collect in the calipers...

actually, I'll quote it;

brake fluid attracts moisture. Ur calipers and brake lines may corrode internally if fluid is not changed annually.
Also OEM brass plated banjo corrodes around the crush washers

I just read all this on the ontario cobalt's site about a month ago... Info/suggestions for LNF owners straight from John Powell.

...on a completely unrelated note, I was wondering how you came about your sig hp/tq ratings;
sammy's shop?
another local dyno??
g-tech?

from my experience, they are normally the weekend of the week after the person's passing;
this allows time for anyone who needs to travel.

Did he not live local?

hopefully driving is fair to good late next week... there's a bunch of doom and gloom on the news as I type this... crap about a snow storm on the cocohala (?sp) in BC, and a cold front moving in tonight... bringing snow into the Calgary area...
