EPIC FAIL Shaganappi Chevrolet stealership

only read the op... sad story bro. gm sucks with this kind of stuff..
my dad has a 04 chevy avalanche, so its like 7 years old. its been rusting underneath the fuel cap (As all chevys seem to do :Spam
so he took it in and they said they would fix it for free. he takes in his truck, waits a week, they say they dont have time or supplys to do it and hed have to wait.
3 MONTHS later, they are finally ready to do it. so 2 weeks ago he drops off his truck again, went to pick it up yesterday with a new fender around the gas cap. the Z71 sticker was not replaced, and the paint a) is shitty and b) the paint doesnt even match!! no blending in at all.
so he said, no it looked better with rust on the ******* fender, redo it! so now they quoted him another 2-3 weeks to 'redo' it...
they suck.
i bought a 99 monte carlo from that same stealership.. it cost 7k, only had 50k miles on it... day i pick it up my 'certified gm' the things starts misfiring like crazy, so i get that fixed. 2 weeks later the transmission gave out. there was gravel in the spare tire spot and the whole car basically fell apart on me... grr

I would hope that if he was to read this, and read Nathaniel's account of dealing with his business - that it wouldn't be a sense of unhappiness ~ but a sense of;
"ok something's not right here - if this one customer has been dealing with us for three years, and it has gpotten to this point ~ How many other customers are like this?"
typically only a minute fraction of customers will speak up...

If you have problems with one dealership take it to another. Any GM dealership has to honor your warranty and do repairs. We've taken our dodge truck to have warranty stuff done at places other then where we bought it multiple times.
this dealer has previously gained the rep around Calgary as being the most accommodating to Cobalt SS owners - where as others have seemed to be down right terrible to any cobalt with mods...
It seems to me that over the last couple years management has allowed Shaganappi's service department slide on their customer service - and in the case of Nathanial's body repairs, they should have been done correct the first time, and he should never be given a timeline that the dealer could not uphold.
other than that - you're 100% correct.
UPDATE
The dealership has ignored the many methods of contact from the BBB, Shaganappi has decided to IGNORE and NOT respond to the BBB.
I have also had my insurance company flag their shop to help prevent their customers from taking their vehicles to this location for repairs.
Just goes to show you the validity of my complaints, sigh i hate having to be 'that guy', however it is what it is.
(thanks for the sticky bro

Ive had very good luck with SMP here in Saskatoon. They are generally top notch, and completely willing to change anything you don't like. As a matter o fact, I've delt with every dealership in Saskatoon for repairs to my car. They have all been great, SMP more specifically has done allot of bodywork and never let me down too bad.
I've got my car back with a few scuffs(got my car back with a good chip/scratch on rear bumper) I can deal with that when the %95 of the rest of the work is completely perfect (painting and restoring the entire front end of my, body panel replaced..etc).

In light of my long events with the body shop, and the couple recent problems @ service dept of overcharging me for somthing i did not need, nore ask for, I have decided to cancle my GMPP extended warranty. I do not intend to bring the dealer my businuss anylonger in anyway past the mandatory warranty period.
Also i will not get the extended warranty when/IF i purchase a new vehicle again as this only elong-gates the dealership/customer expierence. Which i found very painful towards the end.
I called GMPP and was told i cannot cancle on phone, that a gm rep from dealership needed to call OR they send papers to me to fill out and send back (yet another painful process with GM) which im sure i will b called and encouraged to stay with GMPP etc etc.
after they recieve the filled out papers..........
I will keep all posted
any thoughts on my new move? and your personal expierence with extended warranties etc
Cheers

If you do some digging, you will see I have made a couple threads on this very subject - and the general consensus was that it was a waste of money.
What GM-Canada is either ignorant towards, or turns a blind eye to is that Shaganappi skews their customer service results by bribing their customers to give them positive reviews...
Been there - and took it hook, line, and sinker.
Was given a free oil change for a 100% positive review...
although a free oil change was nice - IMHO GM shouldn't allow, or should penalize dealers for essentially bribing their customers into doing this.

my last survey was harsh and real , needless to say....no free oil change for this guy lol (its ok they soaked me for 130 for a pressure test on my radiator when ALL i asked was to have the coolant Fluid topped up, that was the most expensive fluid top up in my life!!! lmao).
AND they damaged my int drivers door handle busted it operable (lucky for me 'soundjunky" is a cool dude and lined me up with a spare one he had), then refused any responsibility.
Like i would ever return!!! hence the refund im looking for from GMPP, imma push for full refund and not prorated. we will see, doubt they will.

You just make more money doing stuff for customers, but if your not busy warranty work is awesome. Easy money.

This all plays into "book rate" and how mechanics make money;
Warranty work is paid book rate by (in this case) GM;
Warranty work needs to be approved by GM;
In the case of open & shut deals (eg: leaky headlight & car still on bumper to bumper) - it's a complete non issue.
What you're talking about "rushing" is where a tech is trying to beat the book;
so where the book says job "X" takes three hours - the tech will make shortcuts to lop that down so that they get more than eight hours of (booktime) work done in an eight hour day ~ if the tech is good, that's where they make money.
If the tech though gets sloppy, and the service manager recognises this, and makes the tech re-do a job ~ they are doing the work at no charge.
Dealers make much, much more money on the servicing of cars than the sale of cars - which is why typically dealers are supposed to foster a good relationship with their customer.
What Nathaniel is dealing with is negligence (on pretty much EVERY level) on the part of the Technician(s), as well as the dealer not recognizing the error(s), and making things right.
I firmly believe that what goes around, will also come around ~ so eventually this kind of stuff will bite Shaganappi in the butt...
I contemplated being a tech for a while... but decided to leave it as a hobby.
Sorry Jordan - you're wrong on this one.

wow that sucks to hear, i bought my cobalt used from the dodge dealer in my town(the have all 3 chevy,dodge,ford) and was the only place that got me into a car.
anyway the point of this is that i went to chevy first than ford and dodge last and their where the one that helped me. and about 2 weeks after having my car my passenger rear drum starts squealing like you would not believe. so i take it back walk into the guys office who sold me the car tell him whats wrong, and 5 mins later one of the mechanics is out in the parking lot with a jack taking off that tire, turns out a rock got in their somehow. but my point is that dodge dealership seems to be willing to go out of their way to back a product they sold even if it has a bowtie and not a ram on its hood. wish more dealerships would help. all my friends who bought cobalts from chevy have had issues as well so i dunno wut their issue is in calgary.

update.
called GMPP to cancle the remainder of my extended warranty only to b told that the dealership can only do that, so i get a lil choked and ask, 'lety me get this staright, i have to take time off work to make it down to the dealer that i bought the GMPP from, the same dealer that stole money buy overcharging for somthing i did not need or ask for, the same dealer that broke a component on my vehicle then denied any responsibility. The same dealer that has for four years now been unable to repair their shitty workmanship to an acceptable level, despite the multiiple opportunities to do so?" Buddy at GMPP says 'well i can send u a form just fill it out and send it back".
me thinkin i got somewhere says ok.
Week later it arrives. i read before i fill it out, at the end says i HAVE to take to the dealer i purchased the GMPP from and have someone authorized to sign it and such.
what a joke, what a run around. **** U GMPP, **** U Shaganappi Chev! UGH.
I guess my hand is forced here, off i go this week.
Been almost 3 weeks since i decided to cancle, amazing how they always find ways to line their pockets with my time and money.
