How to Install a-pillar pod and gauges
I have been asked many a time on how I installed my a-pillar and gauges so I am going to attempt to piece it together as they have been installed for a while and I did not have a camera to take pics of the progress. So here we go.
Picture #1 shows the tools and supplies needed before you start
- #2 Phillips screw driver to install triple pod a-pillar
- T15 torques driver to remove OEM a-pillar
- mini add-a-fuse
- blue butt connectors to join wires
- wire stripper and butt connector crimper
- O-ring crimp connector for negative ground
- Teflon tape for Mechanical boost gauge
- red wire - power
- black wire - negative
Picture #1

Picture #2 shows my current set up
CA - color matched triple pod a-pillar
Switch at top - I will explain that later in the how to
Top - Aeroforce scan gauge
Middle - Auto meter Cobalt A/F gauge
bottom - Auto meter Cobalt series mechanical boost gauge
Picture #2

Step#1
NOTE: Disconnect your negative battery cable. These gauges are mini computers so you don't want to send a surge through them and blow something.
Step#2 - Removing the OEM a-pillar
Step#3 - the Aeroforce gauge - picture#2 - Top gauge
This was the first gauge I installed.
NOTE: Disconnect your negative battery cable. These gauges are mini computers so you don't want to send a surge through them and blow something.
There are two cables that are needed to connect this gauge.

Step#3 Con't.
Lets run the wires.

If you have followed these instructions your scan gauge should be operating flawlessly.
I will complete the rest an a couple of days.

HEY FOLKS PLEASE DO NOT POST ON THIS THREAD AS IT IS A HOW TO. PLEASE DELETE YOUR POSTS. IF YOU HAVE ANYTHING TO ADD PLEASE PM ME AND I WILL ADD IT. THANKS
Mods I have posted this how to, however I have not completed it yet as you can see. Please do not move it as I will finish it shortly. Unfortunately I will have to step away from my computer for the next couple of days and wont be able to get back to it until then
hang in there guys I would like to do it properly and realised that I need a couple more pics from my car.
cheers and thanks for your patience

Step#1
NOTE: Disconnect your negative battery cable. These gauges are mini computers so you don't want to send a surge through them and blow something.
Step#2 - Removing the OEM a-pillar
- Pry the cover up to expose the T15 torques screw and remove the screw.
- Now gently pry the a-pillar pod away from the a-pillar and with some force pull the pod up and toward you. Be careful as the OEM boost gauge is still connected. You don't need to be the HULK.
- Disconnect the OEM boost gauge coupler and remove the a-pillar and gauge.
- Step#2 is now done.
- A 3 wire mini connector and the main connector. The 3 wire connector consists of the power wire (red) and two analog wires (analog 1 and 2)(Picture#3). The main connector connects the scan gauge to the OBD II port in your car (Picture#3/4). The analog wires are used in conjunction with gauges such as an A/F gauge for logging. I will discuss that later.

Picture#4

Step#3 Con't.
Lets run the wires.
Main Connector
- Take the main connector cable and run it from the underside of the dash up through the opening in the dash from the a-pillar. It will probably be easier to do if you remove the storage box to the left of the steering wheel as seen in pictures#5/6. Disregard the red and black wires as that will be discussed later.
Picture#5

Picture#6

3 wire mini connector
- Take three to four feet of the red 14 gage power wire and the add-a-fuse seen in picture#1.
- Strip 1/8" of insulation from each end of the red power wire.
- Strip 1/8" of insulation from the add-a-fuse.
- Take one of the blue butt connectors and connect together the red wire and the add-a-fuse seen in picture#7.
Picture#7

- Run the red wire from the fuse box (Picture#7) behind the centre console, under the dash and up and through the hole in the dash from the a-pillar seen in picture#2.
- Strip 1/8" of insulation from the red wire from the 3 wire mini connector.
- Take a blue butt connector and connect the red power to the 3 wire mini connector of the gauge.
- Plug the mini and main connector into the back of the gauge as shown in picture#3.
- Plug the add-a-fuse into the fuse box as shown in picture#7. I chose to use a 3 amp fuse.
- Plug the main connector OBD II into the OBD II port of your car as shown in picture#4.
- Reconnect the negative battery cable and check the operation of the gauge by starting the vehicle.
If you have followed these instructions your scan gauge should be operating flawlessly.
I will complete the rest an a couple of days.
