They have really bumped up the octane ratings
90
92
94
Now I can put mid grade in my car--ah might just go regular...see if it rattles the dash like it did when I tried 87 :P

ya i noticed that myself the other day, i ended up filling mine with 92 octane, used to be that 91/92 was premium. I've tried the 94 twice now and I think it's netting me worse MPG.
The reason that it is so high is the ethanol in it... Higher ethanol content requires a higher octane to react the same as regular fuel.
V-Power has no ethanol and is 91. Personally, I rather having fuel without ethanol and I find that it runs much much better than fuel with an ethanol content.
If anyone has looked into it, the flexfuel cars with E85 ethanol actually have worse fuel mileage with the ethanol fuel as opposed to regular fuel.
