Kaltire $1100 with install.

i think u missed the part where i own an ss/tc and ZERO rims fit over the new brembos without wheel spacers...........i was told to run very fast and very far away from wheel spacers so i'm opting for 18inch winter tires.

i was told that 17"s would fit too but i hate to buy smaller rims just to get a tiny bit more rubber over the 18"s. im thinkin about buying new black rims anyway so i think the stock may become my winter rims. i think that mite be the cheapest way of doing things?

17s do fit as far as im aware.
and i still think 17s with a winter tire will be cheaper than wrapping 18s in winters.

id check it out

You really want to get winter rims and rubber. Swapping tires back an forth or the rims, you will end up marking up the rims a bit.

I say just get some winter tires for the stock wheels and get some 19's in spring!

ideal situation forsure but my life is ANYTHING but ideal................

Absolutely not, 17inch rims do not fit the ss/tc without a wheel spacer to be safe, u don't want the rim chopping off your brembo caliber, that wouldn't be cheep to fix at all. I was told to stay away from wheel spacers at all costs and I'm not going to call this person I lier. Wheel spacers ftl which means I'm back to the stock wheels and needing 18inch winter rubber for them.............i knew all this in the first post which is why i wasn't asking about if other 17inch rims would fit............i've been crawling all over the LNF sections for the past 3 months so I know for a fact i'm stuck with the 18inch stockers for winter and not next year but maybe the one after i can get some sweet 19inch rims for it. Until then, i'm left with my original request for some cheeper 18inch winter tires, pls stay on topic ppl

no way man, i do too much driving for that, i have to always have wheels 24/7 for my job otherwise i stop making money, plus, that's just 1 more car to insurance............plus, my first 4 cars were $600 beater cars and the first 3 didn't last very long, the corolla was a lucky find.

hey dont get it but he is offering your other 18" rims form his SC, how will they not fit. Is the caliper that much bigger. I ran my stock rims and tires last winter and kept the driving to a minimum but i feel bad cause your rims will take a beating . Oh poor rims. On such a sexy car. If you want i will swap cars with you. Then you will have no worries cause i got 16" winter tires for ya. haha

and as for winter rims package from GM. If they do that they might as well throw block heaters in all our cars too.

The brembos are MASSIVE, and the ss/sc 18inch rims will not fit, i'm not even sure if there is a single 19 or 20inch rim out there that would fit either. Unfortunately GM had no thoughts watsoever about a cobalt ss/tc driving in the winter, i guess maybe their hoping ppl will park them over the winter like corvettes?? *shakes head* GM, why can't u live in the real world??

I'm not saying that I doubt you but honestly I would check with Steve AKA Outtamymind and Chris AKA Criz cause they both work at the **** dealership and I cant believe that GM Would be that dumb to do that especially with such a newly rolled out car... I mean if thats the case why arent you looking for after market 19" winters & rims since any 18's u buy will prolly give you the same problem?....

Like can GM really expect owners to buy a new set of the TC rims every year just so they can get through winter?

sry man, lol i actually know more than they do on this one, i've been reading pretty much every single ss/tc thread on css.net and so far only 2 ppl have gotten different rims to fit, both required spacers.........the one guy is from Eastern Canada and put the 2.4L SS rims with spacers on for winter, another guy in the US got aftermarket lightweight rims but again, wheel spacers........so ya, GM did drop the ball here. I know your all only tryin to help but I've been thru all this with the ss/tc guys for the past 2 months, were stuck with 18inch winter tires on stock rims for awhile

the only true way of finding things out is trial and error. if you got someone who is willing to lend their ss/sc 18's for a test fit to see if things clear then by all means i'll do the labour.

i totally agree with the test fittings. Even though I'm sure there are people that have done some test fittings. I'm sure you will be able to work with some ppl to see what will fit and what won't. Plus as for the spacers what size of spacer are they using. My personal opinion would be to go with the spacer and the 2.4 ss rims if thats the case because a small spacer isn't going to cause major problems. And i'm glad i'm not in your shoes for this matter but i would also love to have a ss/tc.

well the spacer would definetly inhibit your ability to corner aggressively, but in the winter time you shouldn't be cornering aggressively anyways so personally if it works and people have tried them and haven't had an issue then i don't see the problem.

its sounds like a 18" rim with a bigger offset like +45 should work well for you. Look for something like that or i'd say go with the 17's with like a 5mm spacer. I just been interested in this since you brought it up and been doing a lil research myself.

don't be scared of a very small spacer its when u get to custom spacers.

Well I've got $1000 to work with, if I can get rims/winter tires for that price and there's no rubbing or issues with my brembo calipers I'd go for it in a heartbeat.

the 17" SS NA rims fit without spacer... I sold mine to another local member and he test fitted them at my apartment before we finished the deal just to make sure..

They are tight to the brembo's but they still fit perfectly on on hub while still clearing everything.

yes i know about this but I still don't believe it to be safe watsoever, i'd still need a spacer JUST IN CASE, JUST TO BE SAFE, and i dunno if i wanna be puttin myself in situations like that. I know for a fact i can put 18inch winter tires on my stock rims for $1000 and $1000 is all i got, maybe after more than 1 other person has rode those 17's for an entire winter without spacers and didn't chop off their caliper, THEN, i will consider it............atm, there is nothing tired tested or true about putting different rims on the ss/tc.
