Need advice on problems found..

hey guys was woundering if i can get some input

Here's the problem they found .. i took my car in cause it was having some power issues and it sounded like the air filter needed to be cleaned so i took it in to get sanned and checked out, and aparently they found rocks inside my air filter (K&N CAI) and these rocks caused some damage to the supercharger, pistons and cylinder walls and who knows what else. but my question is where the hell and how the hell did these rocks get in there??? and why is my filter so dirty when my last oil change was less then 1k ago??

let me know your thoughts.

weird,

Im guessing there was a connection left un-secured? or... some one plant rocks in your intake? Cause that filter definitely wont let rocks in, unless damaged.. But if you had a leak, you would likely get a CEL.... ask for evidence of the rocks... seems way odd ball, they can just be bull shittn to blame it on the intake...

i never actually had time to go down and check things out yet cause i have been working but the guy said that the rocks were big and that there was no way that they could get in there unless the filter was off and the mechanic said that the filter was on when he looked at it..

You need to go down to the dealership and SEE evidence of the rocks. It will be obvious if they are big pebbles with no oil on them.

Where i work, if we find contaimination in the oil system, (such as metal shavings) we have to keep EVERY little piece of metal to show the customer to cover the companys ass.

just my two cents

went down to the delership on monday to check things out, it doesnt look as bad as i was imagining.
was minor scratches on the intake tube , supercharger and the cylinderwalls and pistons looked normal to me when the camera was passed thru. gonna clean everything up and throw it back together change the oil clean the filter and order a new filter cover cause the old one was tore,(probably where the mud came thru) there was no rocks from what i can see just chunks of mud,...hopefully everything will be fine and there will be no loss of boost from the scratches on the sc.

well they put the car back together , took it out for a spin turns out it was just the cloged air filter that was the problem.. as far as the scores in the cylinder walls and everything else go , it seems that they were too minor to make a difference..

all i have to say is ...wow what a surprise. i mean sure! you can get very little amounts of sut in your filter but usually it stays there. i have a typhoon on mine and i try and clean it every second season (spring, fall) nothing should really get into the area of that filter enless you do a lot of bussy highway/city driving. the damn fog light openings let a lot of **** in....oh and when you clean your engine, spray away from the intake area.

my two cents
