Winter tire suggestions??

Ok, I did not get a response from the tires/rims section, so maybe my fellow western canadian friends will help me..........I am just wondering what you guys are doing for winter tires as snow is fair game at any time now? Should I put steel rims with winter tires or just put winter tires on the stock 18" rims?? If you could let me know that would be cool.......

Buy seperate rims and tires.

Go 17" or even 16"--save some cash that way.

http://www.tiretrends.com/

Wife and Dad bought from these guys. Big tire warehouse in BC---even with shipping and install it was cheaper.

Toyos are supposed to be good.

Do you know of anyone that has just put new rubber on the stock 18" rims that came with the SS/SC?? It sounds to me like it is more economical to just buy cheaper new rims and new rubber.......

sold my tires to a person with the 2.4L. far as I know no problems but we did expect any the SS wheel well is just the same as the SS/SC and same goes for the pursuit. you will be alright with that size.

when you price it out the 18" snow tires will run the same or more as 215/55r16 on steel rims. now consider this. you do have snow tires on your 18" rims. you cant switch the wheels as easily, there is a cost to much larger to swap tires on and off the wheels, everytime you change the tires on and off the rims the great chance you have to having damage, or say one day your driving and you slide and bruch a curb. I dont how much our stock wheels are but I dont think 800 is out of line.

Go to canuck tire or your gm dealer. $70 a rim is good. go to walmart.... yes walmart. Buy the Dunlop Graspic DS-1. you will be happy you did. Just as good or better than anyother winter tire you have in mind. and the price $115. for a 215/55r16

Fountain tire (found in western Canada and owned 50% by goodyear) sells the Graspic DS-1 for 150.

goodluck.
