Black Smoke from the Exhaust

Alrite so here is whats going on... this started bout 5 days ago... when i go to start my car for the first time each day. Black brownish smoke comes out when i give it a shot of gas but after bout 30 seconds or less it goes clean again... now its not blue.. its like black kinda brown colour.. it only happins when its the first start for the day after that it never does it again till i start it the next day... Now would this be a dirty Exhaust or a clogged Katback or is it running to rich??? im kinda lost on this one... the muffler is stock one from 2005 when the car was first bought... so ya any help would be great..

Sounds to me like your cat is shot or on it's way out.

LoL,
Mine's been doing that ever since I bought it. I just shrug it off. Did get the letter in the mail about the recall on the cat, But they are saying if there are signs of power loss etc to bring it in otherwise I have 10 yrs from manufacturing date or until my car hits 193,000km for symptoms of power loss to take effect. And for it blowing the smoke every morning when I snap the gas, I am far away from having power loss.

LoL. Kind of surprising, well not really, every problem someone else is having with their's I've had, or is having with mine. LoL
Great ol car.

Black Smoke is good.
Blue Smoke Bad
White Smoke Bad

Black smoke is normally caused from un burnt fuel in the system from your car running to lean.
blue smoke is caused alot of times from rings being shot
white smoke means you have coolent getting into the the motor where its not suppose to be.

out of the 3 i would be way more happy seeing black smoke, then again mine does it

LoL Canadian Tire for me. That's where the gal works. She likes the C.T. money we get back. Hey Adam, ended up fixing that broken headlamp assembly. My uncle Redneck fixed er. But it's solid. At least this spring I don't have to worry about it falling out when I take my headlight covers on and off.

Well not for the time being. Just as long as (For the love of God) one of my HID's don't burn out. (Shudder just to think of the cost of a new bulb for that) I should be alright. He placed some sort of slotted metal piece in there which attached the headlamp to where it originally was supposed to hook before is snapped. Secured it quite well. I presume if I ever got in a head on (Another shudder) that the only thing that would stay in place would be that headlight. LoL

Even though I'd still love to go painted black. <<<Good song. LoL.

Well Ryan just know that you can always try them out anytime you want. They're just laying in the garage collecting dust. I never tried them on my car, but im sure they would look nice with your HIDs in that "painted black" housing

Don't stab the gas when the motor is cold.
