i just took the easy way and went turbo with no extra crap and the car still has plenty more room to grow. back in the day before i was on the map the 2.5 was running but some failed as well but now for that money you would spend over spinning the blower you can turbo swap. most ppl on the m62 are running around 18*+ of timing but im on 15* with 23psi of boost not even putting any stress on the motor. btw if im correct 15* is stock timing for the LSJ.

one thing i am realizing from your posts is that your a newb that doesn't know ****.
And to everyone else...good to see some ppl understood what I was trying to say. Do I recommend the "man pulley" to everyone. NO! But for those brave souls that want to actually be fast than yes you can "get away with" overspinning the m62 that much. When I had my car we didn't have e85 or the injectors to make a fuel system for E work. I'm jealous. Would love to see some one properly setup their car with full high flow exhaust, intake, full cooling, meth, ported head and e85 run a 2.5 pulley.

So in short - be a man and run a 2.5 OP... or be less of a man and run a 2.7-2.8 pulley. The choice is yours.

hahahhaha i'm not better, just clearly been moddin cars for longer. oh and umm ya i ran the 2.5 on my car...and that was when it was my only car . Like I SAID EARLIER, I wouldn't recommend a 2.5 for everyone. I dont even think I would recommend it to the op. Just here to defend ppl like yourself that are extremely knowledgeable on modifing the lsj hahaha.

And those days were when you had **** to upgrade too, so putting a smaller pulley was all you guys had. Did i ever say it wouldnt make more power? No. Read. I said it wasnt smart. While some guys would probably use it smartly, i wouldnt advise someone "manning" up and using a "man pulley" when they(OP) cant even spell correctly. A lot of younger people are buying these cars now, some as their daily drivers. While a properly set up car w/ a 2.5 could obviously make more power, the average person on here is trying to get away with as little supporting mods as possible. And thats the truth. Get off your high horse like you are better...or actually...dont, its quite amusing

Ok. Thanks for all the great reponses....seems everyone has a different perspective on this. I have found the vendor he is using is Intense. I am thinking about a more conservative 2.9 stage 3 kit, ported with a a header to go with my injen intake and ark grip exhaust.

and yes you will need cooling mods no matter what!
dont be one of those guys that thinks just cuz his car is running fine on a smaller pulley that it doesnt need cooling mods.
our cars love and need cooling mods.

Wow... what has this forum come to...
a 2.5 on a m62 doesn't even come close to flowing the same cfm a tvs does at any RPM.
And to be worried about blower inefficiency and heat? Run the appropriate water meth mixture and nozzle then go to town with it.
this forum is full of a bunch of wannabes now adays
