I would like to add a suggestion in regards to the classified section and detering scammers;

I say we make it a RULE that you have to post a picture andyour user name and a date in that picture of an item you are selling. Just write it on a piece of paper or something. I think pictures of the actual item should be manditory and that user name and date along with it.

My other forum is 3 months and 30 posts plus sellers need a picture with name, date and forum name with every item. There are NEVER problems. It's a lot smaller forum though. 5 days 5 posts is way to lax to do any good i think.

Jl I'm guessing your talking about hidp? I've mentioned a similar rule in our private discussions, try seemed to like the idea. Not sure if they still plan on implementing it or not but we were Already considering a picture-proof rule as well. I think for now we are just taking these steps 1 at a time. I'll let lee chime in here though because he knows more about what's going on than I do.

I agree!

This has actually been a rule for years, but people get away w/o pictures a lot of the time.

I also can't stand the people who are too lazy to take the time to post pictures and claim they can't. It is not rocket science.

The picture should include the following:

-user name
-date
-title of the for sale thread

I really like this idea.

I always Take pictures of the part im selling with my car in the picture instead of the paper.

I also always leave feedback but rarely receive it

Same here man.

I always provide photos and my user name.

I usually PM people to remind them about the itrader feedback when a sale is completed.

Funny thing is, most people just don't know how to leave the feedback. It's a very simple process though.

We can add the name/date thing if that is the consensus.

I have updated the classified rules for "parts" and "stuff" to reflect that you must now post a piece of paper with your username and the date you are posting the thread.

I don't find it necessary to do this for classified threads in which a car is for sale.

Thoughts?

I thought it would be applied as a blanket rule - All Classified Sections. Although the scammers for whole vehicles is pretty much nill on this site, it's still a possiibility and implementing the rules to apply to cars for sale in my opinion also shows that the seller is serious.

I like this.

I have always done this in the past, because I thought it was always a site rule.

I still think adding the thread title to the paper will be a good idea as well.

There should be a thread made (other than this one) to announce the new site rules for selling items.

Does anyone mod the classifieds?? I think if a member does not follow the rules (photos, price, user name, & date), the thread should be taken down until all requirements are met.

I love the kids who try to sell stuff on here and say "PM for pics", or "I can't upload pics". It's not hard to upload photos on here when making a thread, so no excuses.

Maybe consider making it so the five posts have to be legit/contributing posts. It's too easy for a scammer to make five posts. The five posts could be something like:

1. Nice Car.
2. Bump for you.
3. In for pics.
4. Sub'd
5. GLWS.

That's too hard to monitor. We don't have time to read every post that's made

Those who post random stuff that is obviously intended to beat the 5 post rule will be banned no questions asked.

An infraction has been created for those who do not follow the updated classified rules.

Why not just disable the bumping with a post and allow a part or car to be sold as posted?

Help me out; I've been on this site for awhile, but not active recently. Lost my Cobalt in an accident two weeks ago. Have rims for sale but can't make a post. Sent a help email last week, still no response. :-( I'm not at all a scammer, just want to get rims out of my dining room.

We implemented a five post minimum rule. Seeing how only your fifth post was made in this thread, you should now find yourself able to make a for sale posting. Pm me if you need further assistance
