LOL....busted!!!......yeah

So these really do get good gas mileage?? (that's what it sounded like on the GTI forums)

The salesman was pushing the DSG (still never test drove it though), but I have to have a manual

That's the reason I'm getting rid of my Aura....it's just too damn boring with an automatic.

Can get a '09 GTI lease for $329/month with only $500 down, 36 months & also 15k miles/year.

They're selling it for invoice & there's a $750 rebate/lease cash in August for the GTI too. I think it's a GREAT deal.

You get the free maintenance on the 2009's for 3yr/36k, but the warranty is only 3yr/36k instead of the 4yr/50k

AND ironically, I'd want a 2dr in United Gray (like yours) lol

Any mods to sell???

no the 08.5 and 09 have a new style motor compared to the 06-08..different ecu intake and timing chain. but theres companies out there like APR that have released some new stuff, were still waiting on chips that should be done within the next month or 2. i did make a custom intake for mine tho.. therres a catback but the stock cb isnt restrictive much and not neccessary. im gonna end up doing, stage 2 with catless dp, intake and coils w/some nice rims.. all the suspension is interchangeable on all years soo.. and the DSG is alittle bit faster than the manual..and im not sure if the 6MT has launch control like the dsg's

The motor is different??? Are they just minor tweaks/upgrades, or is there a real benefit to the new upgrades???

Hmm....so the intakes for the '06-08 won't work on a '09???

I was looking at the Borla exhaust already....I would just want a lil' nicer tone to it....that's all

Do people put the springs on for the looks or for better handling on the GTIs???

No the manual doesn't have the launch control, but I like it because it's more "engaging" for the driver. But yeah....I know the DSG is just a hair quicker, but oh well.

What's your combined/average fuel economy with the DSG??
DO you like it??? (I thought the whole reason you put the car for sale on here was because you didn't like the DSG though)

minor tweaks and upgrades, burns less oil and cheaper for vw to build.

06-07 intakes wont fit on later 08-09's.

if u want a nicer tone on the stock exhaust, delete the res sounds good that was my "first" mod. doesnt do anything besides add a little bit of sound.

springs are for better looks and handling, im gonna go with eibach eventually

my combined avg mpg is 30.4mpg.

i love the dsg best of both worlds to an extent. the reason for putting my car up for sale was because i cant really afford it now bc i just lost my job, but i owe 32k lol i rolled over 8600 from my ss/sc..any more ?'s feel free to ask

Yeah....I went and drove a 4 door today w/manual today.....I think the 2 door looks better though & the moved B pillar is kinda funky....so I'm definitely gonna go with a 2 door. Plus it's cheaper ($13/month less for the 2 door)

Still curious about the DSG, but the mileage rating is 22/29.....manual is 21/31mpg. So I didn't wanna waste the guys time & still didn't drive it.....oh well.

And I popped the hood to finally see what you were talking about....yeah the stock intake & engine cover are totally different from the previous years.....that sucks. That was gonna be the first mod--an intake. Oh well

Yeah I've seen that people delete the resonator.....what do you do though?? Just take it to an exhaust shop & have them put a straight pipe in to replace it???

I still wanna get the Borla though....can't go wrong with their exhausts!

yeah i think my next mod is gonna be a dp and put the res back on, sounds awesome but prolly too loud for me with the dp and the res. yeah i paid $45 to get my res delete and they just welded a piece of pipe on took nno more than 10 min. good luck

You never said, but do you have the TSI engine in your GTI??

I tried looking for an intake, but no luck (even on APR's site)

And out of curiousity, does the new TSI engine get better mileage than the old FSI engine???
Or are they the same???

I'm reading some conflicting info saying that the TSI is a completely whole new engine & others saying that it's just a revised FSI motor

its basically just a revised FSI motor from what ive read, and i have the TSI motor. and about gas mileage im not to sure but i would think around the same. i would look for a car w/the tsi motor just because its new and its supposedly better than the fsi. www.golfmkv.com make an account on there its some pretty decent info on there. my username is the same as on here

Id trade you in a heart beat. I test drove a used 08 and loved it. Pulled just as hard at my ss/sc if not a little harder. And out handled the balt by a long shot.
My payments are in line with yours, man I would love to trade.

Well yeah....I'm looking at getting a '09 (hopefully this week) so it would definitely have the TSI motor in it
Yeah I did some reading the other day and saw that the TSI put down some nice numbers for stock (and higher than the FSI)

What other VW/GTI forums are there???
I found myfastgti.com too

As for mods, I'm sure it'll change but for now I'm thinking tint & clear bumper lenses right away. Borla exhaust maybe right away, but probably next spring (more realistic)....since I might have to buy some winter wheels/tires. And maybe they'll have an intake by the fall or next spring.
