For Sale OH- 06 Saturn Ion 2.4L 5-speed $6000
OH- 06 Saturn Ion 2.4L 5-speed $6000
I have a 2006 Saturn Ion sedan for sale. It has approx 80k miles and has only ever been run on 93 with synthetic oil. To answer questions as to why I'm selling it: I bought the Mazda6S, which is more my style. I am also going back to school full-time and can't afford two car payments anymore. My loss is your gain.
The good:
-LE5 2.4L motor option
-5-speed manual transmission (Better fuel economy and fun!)
-Two sets of wheels (Primax 772 18"-7.5" along with stock wheels) (stock rims are short one tire due to a flat)
-4 Doors!
-Trifecta Tuned by Hunter19707. Tuned for 93. Made 166whp, 163tq in April 2010
-Fun to drive and sips gas
-The engine runs great and is smooth.
-Powertrain Control Module replaced under recall in 2011 (have receipt)
-Comes with a TWM Short Throw Shifter with weighted Type-R knob for fast, precise throws.
-Comes with a K&N drop-in lifetime air filter. Just wash and dry and it never needs replaced.
-Removed lower Intake silencer. The car breathes better and has a much better sound.
-Comes with a packaged set of upgraded EV6-style 33lb/hr fuel injectors (stock are 22.5lb/hr). They would need tuned for obviously, but would make for better power and a better torque curve. I just never had the time to install them. Bought them from ZZPerformance!
The bad:
-Transmission needs replaced (300 from a salvage yard...just don't have the time). It looks to be the gears, but its cheaper to replace the transmission as a whole sadly. For some reason, it leaked fluid badly, and by the time I caught the leak, it was too late.
Only reason i haven't fixed it is because I'm broke and have been trying to sell it since I bought the Mazda in August 2010, but the PCM issue stopped that at the time.
The verdict:
The car lists WITHOUT the transmission issue for around $7500 bucks across the board. With the transmission flaw, it lists for $6200. I find that is fair given it won't cost half of the difference to replace the transmission. But I owe just under $6000 and am only interested in getting out of the loan. So if you can come up with that (or whatever the balance is as it changes weekly with interest), the car will be yours. This is a great car for someone who likes driving manuals and wants a solid daily driver. Even with the larger optional motor (essentially a bored and stroked 2.0L LNF), it gets amazing gas mileage and is fun to drive around. Feel free to email me or text me at 740-605-9688. As it sits, it will need hauled away as the transmission seems to be jammed in gear and stalls when the clutch pedal is depressed.

Bump, same trans came in 02-05 Cavaliers with the 2.2 L61. this is a great deal for this car.
and my 06 SS/NA with the 2.4 has 137K miles and no issues, so i wouldn't be nervous about the mileage.

Thanks!!!! The motor is fantastic. The trans is easy to find and normally has no issues. Only reason mine had any is cuz I had a leak somewhere. I couldn't find it, but the fluid was empty again within two days of filling it.
I'm putting a video from a few months ago up talking about it. Might make one of the interior tomorrow to show it off as well as the issue with it and the sound accompanying the issue.
