Testing Waters: '06 SS 2.4

Hey guys..

Considering selling my Cobalt outright to get out of the lease.. I was just curious as to how much it'd go for.. I honestly don't know.. I'm seeing SS's (both 2.4's and LSJ's) going for anywhere between 10k-20k.. The newest pics are in the link below, and I'll also add the important mods I've got done too..

48k miles
black/black
auto
sunroof
SS 2.4 package
Pioneer speaker package
factory alarm

RK-Sport c/f ram-air hood
eBay blackout headlights
Nokya hyperwhite h/l/f bulbs
DC Sports strut bar
Injen intake (running as short, but have full tubing)
18' Enkei FN-18's, +42 offset
Pirelli P-Zero Nero's all around
Ion Redline Recaro front and rears
Alpine CD player
s/c pillar pod with narrow AFR (Auto Meter)
shift boot for shifter and e-brake
sans center console trade
debadged rear bowtie, flat black front bowtie
blue trunk neon in place of normal light
Mobil-1 synthetic oil
silver oil cap
GMPP Performance cat-back
B&M Shift Plus
LED's in 3rd brake light, reverse light, and plate socket
Silverstar corners
35% tint all around (professional)

I think that's it.. Here's the pics..

https://www.cobaltss.net/forums/show...hlight=awb%27s

The car is very reliable. I drive it everyday. I've owned it since it had 100 miles on it and it's been meticulously cared for. I just drove it from Pittsburgh to the Outer Banks of NC a month ago with no problems at all and 35+ mpg..

Lemme know what you think.. I'm trying to not get totally screwed.. If I can't get enough I'll just keep it though.. Let me know about a reasonable price range for the car in it's present condition.. Thanks!

sell all your aftermarket stuff seperately, unless you can get a kid to buy it

Eh.. Not quite worth it.. I'd basically be breaking even.. Not good..

I guess I'll just move onward with the project.. My friend does alot of work on other peoples cars, so we're gonna throw on some springs, sway bars, etc eventually.. But my next big project may be the Brembo conversion.. We'll see.. Even if not the Brembo's, I'm still beefing up my stockers..

Thanks for the info, guys..

aftermarket parts decrease the value of your car... do like the others said and part out and sell it 100 percent stock and youll get the best value

It seems silly that you can go add a ton of money in stuff and it's still worth the same. I'd never offer someone the same money for a stock car and a modified one. That's insane. I'd definitely pay extra for parts. That's like offering a guy 200 bucks for a '70 Monte Carlo when it has wheels on it worth 2 grand.. I'm sorry.. That's ridiculous.. lol. I'm not going through the hassle of taking my car back to stock.. It'd be far more of a hassle than it's worth, when I won't get **** for it anyway. Screw that. Thanks for the info anyway, regardless of if I agree with it or not..

I kinda agree except someone is taking on the fact you may have screwed up the car due to mods.

I mean there is a lot of exceptions where cars just sale more.Like a KB Cobra will be sold for ~20% of the set-up on average.Look at Supra's and what not.I just don't see that being the case here.
Unless you can find someone to buy your car for what you probably want when a SS/SC wouldn't cost much more if at all.

well let me just say that i have a pontiac g5 gt that has the 2.4 and my insurance is 180/month with a 1000 dollar deductible. and thats with my dad on the same insurance policy. i'm also 18, i have NO tickets or accidents. the car is also in my name. so i pay 1100 every 6 month period. if i were to do the $500 deductible it would've been 1300/6 months.

My girlfriend has the 2.2 and it's like 100 or so a month I think.. But hell, my '85 Grand Prix was 50 a month under only liability.. 20.. No tickets or points..

Keep in mind aftermarket parts only increase the value to YOU, not to the general public.

There's the damage thing and it's a less desireable car to sell. Unless you can find someone who would want the EXACT same mods on his or her car, it's not going to move very quickly. Even factory paint colors have the same effect. I'd hate to be someone with that goofy light purple/blue color (blue flash I think)...dealers will knock up to a grand off of normal trade in for stuff like that.

Insurance isn't that much different across the Cobalt models. I know I only pay about $70/month for my SS/SC. I forget what the lastest drop put it at, might even be closer to $60-65/month now.

I actually kinda like that color..? haha

I understand what you mean about the mods, but it just seems crazy to me that you can put a 2k dollar wheel/tire package on it, $400 exhaust, $800 hood, Recaros, and alot more and the value goes DOWN.. lol. That's crazy.. Slightly understandable.. To a point.. But still crazy none the less..
