You might consider just selling the car first..then you're in the driver's seat as far as getting a nice used SS/TC. The trade deal you want now is really limiting you quite a bit.
My story:
I had a very special 1997 Toyota Camry TRD SC that I built from scratch. The car had EVERYTHING..suspension...exhuast...clutch...TRD Body kit. PERFECT. I had it for 11yrs (9yrs with the SC). 270 WHP (5 speed..rare). I loved the car, but wanted something new and had been eyballing the Cobalt TC for the last 3 yrs. In June I wound up trading it in for only 3000, but the dealer wanted to get a 09 Cobalt SS (8600 Mi) off his lot and sold it to me for 16000 EVEN BEFORE the trade in...13000 out the door plus tax/lic fees. That made the deal sweet for me. The car was virtually NEW! For me it was worth a trade in. The key is to find a dealer who really wants to get rid of a SS/TC sitting on his lot. The SS I bought was first listed by the dealer for 19998!

That was actually my plan from the very beginning, because I was with my dad when he got is brand new dodge 2500 4x4 and could not believe how much he was able to talk the dealers down and talked them into giving him 2000 more than his trade in was actually worth. But i've only checked with my local small chevy dealer and they won't even TRY to look for a white one so they're useless...Austin, TX is right up the road with several dealers up there, I just haven't had the time to go talk to any of them. But i'm still trying to find someone to trade with just to cut down on the hastle. They're out there...just have to find the right person who wants to get away from the cobalt scene. And since i'm not really in that big of a hurry to get rid of it i'm going to keep looking for someone to trade with for now. But I do plan on going to talk to the dealers soon too.

 

wish i paid that little for mine. i drove an hour and a half and i bought new for 21,014 before taxes,tags, and my neg equity. after rverything i paid 27k for mine and put 500 down

i've got an 09 ss/tc with less than 13k in mileage.
rpd, lsd. etc.
i make payments on it, but i've had it for 9 months and have payed about 4500 of it off, and also put down a downpayment
so in other words i wouldn't want any cash. just a straight trade, and you take over the payments and get it refinanced in your name.
i pay 450, but thats because i got it when i was 19 by myself and got raped in a bad interest plan.

Sorry, not sure what that color is called at chevy dealers...looks kind of maroon to me-I didn't know they made both a red color and a maroon color, I just thought all the maroon ones I saw were just taken with a crappy camera and looked darker. I'd take a maroon one before I got a red one but i'm really just looking for white or black right now

 

Sport Red Tintcoat is what you're trying to think of. It was a more expensive paint option for the Cobalts. It's also referred to as Crystal Claret I believe, or Crystal red metallic.

I know I just drive a cobalt and all that stuff, but ***, all the pics do is remind me that the neon is a butt ugly car. Nice engine tho. With that being said I would much rather drive this than the sandwich bus..

 

To each his own...some people love how they look and some people hate it. I'm more concerned about the performance of the car than the looks. The SS does look better than the SRT, i'll admit that though.
