1/4 Mile: C30 T5 R-Design vs Cobalt SS/SC
who do you think would win?
two clone drivers, same upbringing. both can't spell received correctly.
no '40 roll' or any of that BS.
This is primarily an opinion thread. Facts are welcome but dont expect them.
And before you ask WTF a C30 T5 R-design is:
Its a Volvo
2.5L 5-cylinder turbo (low boost ~10psi, quick spool)
227bhp
6spd
FWD
~3200lbs

Stock vs stock. Should be pretty close.
I love those c30's. Nice little car. That t5 sounds sick with some exhaust. I think the evolve setup was my favorite. I would have gotten one if a volvo dealer would of been closer.
Edit... I think this one sounds awesome.

With a wide powerband, which both cars have, less shifting is better in the quarter mile. This is why the 09+WRX's (265bhp) are faster than the 09+ STi's (305bhp) in teh quarter mile.
Here's some specs on the volvo for everyone.
Layout: Front engine / Front-wheel drive
Engine: 2.5 liter, turbocharged inline 5
Power (SAE): 227 hp @ 5000 rpm
Torque: 236 lb-ft @ 1500 - 5000 rpm
Gearbox: 5-speed automatic
Curb Weight: 3135 lbs.
0-60 mph: 6.2 sec.
1/4 mile: 14.8 @ 97 mph
Top Speed: 146 mph
Mileage: 19 city / 28 highway
Base Price: $25,950
Now that's magazine times, but it sounds like a driver's race to be honest.
Yea weight is key for cobalt win!
Yea weight is key for cobalt win and of course turbo lag. The c30 only has around 20 more horsepower and 25 to 30 more torque than cobalt. But the c30 curb weight is 210 lbs more than the colbalt 100 lbs is equal to 10 horsepower so 210 lbs would make up the 20 horsepower. And that's all the supercharged cobalt would need. The superchargers power is instantaneous turbos have lag. I know this because last year I was in my 1999 Pontiac grand prix gtp supercharged 3800 saw a Lamborghini and we were playing around going like 70 in a 40 came over a hill and there was a 2018 ford explorer EcoBoost state trooper he whipped it around hit lights. Lamborghini slowed down. Little bit I never let off and he chased me for like 20 mins. My car was 20 years old with less horsepower and less torque his brand new twin turbo explorer never had a chance because of the turbo lag he never even got close enough to me to get my tag on his dash cam. All I had to do was turn every so often his big heavy suv had to slow down more than me then my supercharger was instant power out turn while his turbos were lagging. I bet that state trooper is still pissed off about it too. You'd think were they go to driveing school every so often and drive all day for there job they could drive better. My gtp is down right now and I been looking only at turbocharged and supercharged cars to get til gets warm and I can fix it. Found nice little 2007 colbalt as but the damn thing is orange. Think I'm still gonna get it but that's gonna b the 1st thing I change is paint b4 any performance mods. Still gonna get me a turbocharged car though. I'm leaning towards a Volkswagen gti or a Volvo. Also was thinking about a supercharged Chrysler crossfire srt6 but the way more than the cobalt in price. So if get cobalt I could go ahead and get a turbo car too and b around same price as the srt6 crossfire. Any suggestions on other turbocharged cars I'd like to hear them. I like all the Hyundai ones veloster genius but there pricey too
