1st Time Racing EVER.

No, not in my cobalt. My boyfriend has a 9-sec Mach 1... for the first time ever, he let someone else take it down the track. I have NEVER taken ANY vehicle down the 1/4 mile, and for a newb, I think I did pretty damn good. I made 6 runs, the first two weren't recorded because my boyfriend was down at the line with me lining me up.

To explain the extremely SLOW take off, since it was my first time I didn't have the greatest reaction time... but not only that, I was also taking off in second gear. The car has a c4 trans, reverse valve body automatic (it DOES NOT shift itself). With this, the car takes off like a dog...

But anyway, enough explaining. My best for the first time racing ever- 11.97 @ 125mph. [My only run starting from 1st gear]

Everyone is saying on another forum that he's brave...honestly it isn't that, its called trust. I DO know how to drive. I've watched him enough to know what I'm doing. He has never crashed at the track....the car has a roll cage. He was actually more worried about me living IF I crashed it than the car being okay. I wasn't allowed to race until the cage was built. He has insurance. He does love me enough for him to want me to live through it lol

Are you sure you know how to drive? Running a 12 in a 9sec car is not exactly good.

I have driven a Viper, turbo'd mustang, and a camaro ss. all where below or around 10sec cars. I ran a best of 10.4 in the mustang in 3 passes, the owner runs high 9's, so don't be pointing fingers.

Dude it can be VERY intimidating driving a car like that if all you have ever driven is the Balt, ease up.

went from a 15 to 11.97, nice progress over 6 runs. I bet you could have that in the 9's with another 6 runs..... good job.

lol if you ran cars hard like that without much experience you're either lucky or a reckless driver... a 9 second car demands alot of respect and anyone who would go out their first time and hammer down a track in one without getting used to it is an idiot....

good runs trish!

i'm glad you did sooooo great running everyone else's cars. i never said i was the **** bud. i said i did pretty good for my first try. i'm a girl. twenty years old. driving a car that could easily kill me if i put it into a wall. sorry im not cocky...i'm realistic.

we were talking about this tonight actually. next season i'll run a few more days. over winter hes shedding some weight, installing a new converter, putting on the race suspension, and doing other tweaks. i plan on running a 9 in the car next year. bet =) ps the first run wasnt a 15, the first run wasnt recorded...and i REFUSE to say what i ran the VERY first time down.

Yeah he must like you.. I can't say I would let anyone drive my 9 second car. They find walls too easily. Especially with someone young who hasn't raced before.. Good job taking it easy and not crashing.

Props to making the runs.

I wouldve been far more nervous sending someone down the track in a car that powerful. Real easy to get yourself into a world of trouble.

OH MAN A VIPER! AND A CAMARO SS! bow down! you are hating on a girl that has never raced a single car, not one. thats pretty intimidating dude. id love to see the times you ran in the first time you ever raced, and i guarantee it wasnt a freaking 9 second car. most girls wouldnt even want to drive the car, let alone race the damn thing, give props where they are due.
