2.4 automatic 1/4 mile times

well this was my first time at the track with the cobalt, half tank 93 octane ,running full synthetic oil 45 psi in all 4 tires intake and exhaust, it was about 43 degrees out and sunny today. the first 2 runs were launching from L then shifting into I for 3rd, the last run was leaving in I the whole time witha tq brake launch on all 3 runs. i only have 2700 miles on my car and i think it can still do better with more practice and breaking in more on the car. i never tried a run in just D yet i will next time. track elevation is '1250 . enjoy.

if you cant see this one here is the 1/4 mile time for it (15.912 @ 85.95 mph)

Seems quite respectable considering it's n/a and the converter won't allow an aggressive launch.
You are not quite sea-level either, so it's even better.
Nice job, Congrats!!!

thanks, i was kinda bummed about the time, is there a way to correct the number for sea level? i was surprised when i launched from like 3k rpm on the 3rd run in I that my traction control didnt kick in.

Yeah sure, this is the most accurate one, but you need some info...
http://www.modulardepot.com/density.php
You can get historical data from this site to plug into formula...
http://www.wunderground.com/

With these 2, you can really see how you did, air is taken into account, temp, humidity, etc.

The air was good when you did your best pass @ 2:52pm, and it factors out to a 15.79@86.23

Now the boys that ran at englishtown today were enjoying some great weather also, and would run slower at regular conditions.
They were racing in conditions equal to -665 feet.

Nice work. Don't bother trying a start in D next time the traction control system will kick in immediately.

thanks, i figured D would be a waste of time thats why i didnt try it since i was only able to get 3 runs in, it was weird that on my last run the car hooked up perfectly where as most of the time i just spin tire, driving in L is the best way that seemed to work for me.

Okay... first of all... those times are a little slow... but as it's your first time at the track it's excusable...

2nd.. tell me you launched it in "L" then shifted to "I"... right?

3rd.. did you remember to lower your tire pressure?

Your best 1/8th time was about 0.3 slower than mine.

Pittsburgh is about 1200' above sea level... I ran in Mooresville.. which is about 800' so altitude may make a slight difference... dunno.

Good job at least having the ***** to get out there and run it in the first place. I'm sure you'll get better with practice!

yeah i did launch in L but my best time happend when i Launched in I and just left it there. I thought L would be faster but maybe its cuz i didnt lower my pressure enough for traction? my tires say 50 psi for normal so i lowered them to 45 psi in hopes of getting better traction, what pressure should i be keeping the tires at?

well i guess this time could be due to me keeping my tire pressure too high i thought it was good to keep tires at max pressure and now i just found out they should have been at 32 psi

Good dear god man... you're gonna blow those tires at 50PSI... I keep mine at 35 for normal driving... lowered to 25PSI for track use... I'd dare say go as low as 20... no wonder you spun like mad!

Dropping to 25PSI or so will definately help your next run. No more spinning...

I don't see why there would be... if anything you'll get a better ride out of it.
