2.4 N/A bone stock 1/4 mile times

Well today it was 29C with 100% humidity at the track today for the first run ever in my cobalt ss 2.4, which is 100% stock, as stock as you can get.

So what does hot temps, 100% humidity and a 230lb driver with only 2 weeks of experience with 5 speed get you?

a 16.124 @ 87.40 Mph

Full time slip is:

R/T : .726 (i know i know)
60': 2.371
330: 6.814
1/8: 10.445
mph: 67.80
1000: 13.540
1/4: 16.124
MPH: 87.40

My first and worst run of the night was a 17.6 when i missed 3rd gear lol. But im hoping for mid 15's once i get more experience driving 5 speed and a less humid day. Example is a guy i talked to that is a regular at the track had a camaro that ran a consistent 14 flat and he was in the mid to high 14's all day.

So opinions?

I know nothing about 2.4's but picking up 20 mph in the back half is good weather it is driver mod or the car itself?

my 1-2 shifts suck, it seems really hard to get into 2nd, but i nail my 2-3 shifts, so thats probably one big contribution to that factor.

Like i said in my first post, this is my very first 5 speed car and i havent even driven 5 speed for 2 weeks yet and this is the first time i have ever raced with a 5 speed so theres lots of room for improvement

If any has some suggestions with like tire pressure, when to shift, what rpms to launch, let me know, im new and open to suggestions, im going back to the track in a month

you need to learn to drive you car...not being mean or anything just being honest..

within about a month of me driving my first manual 2.4L i ran a 15.46 stock at the track..not bragging..just letting you know what can be done...

my best advice if you wanna run some good times...no remorse for your vehicle...slap those shifts in hard...simple enough lol

best of luck

I am a regular at that track, i go there and watch the street legals all the time and there were regulars there running over a half a second slower, some close to a full second slower then normal because of the heat and humidity. So under normal track conditions, i could have pulled off a mid 15 with my driving at that time

Also 1 month is over double the driving experience compared to less then 2 weeks of driving experience lol

for shift points, what rpm is good to shift at? Also are you letting off the gas when you shift or you just power shifting? this is my daily driver, im not going to ruin my tranny for a quicker time.

yeah i let off the gas but shift hard and quick...

i would go till about 6000, once it hits the 6 i shift..or redline..but thats risky..

why do you consider shifting at redline risky?

Has anyone done the math to figure out the ideal shift spots yet..??

Don't concentrate so much on the reaction time, think about the first 60 feet, go through the run in your head before you get there. The staging lane isn't where you want to be thinking about the run... I've done that enough to know.

The LE5 makes maximum power right around 6200 rpm when stock.......shifting under that point would be terribly inefficient as it would drop you right out of the power band for the next gear. I don't know what that other guy is thinking.

you should be able to cut a much better time then that with the 2.4, few more sessions and you'll be well around the 15.5-6 range easy

friday night will hopefully be the night for me to do it if i get off work at a decent time. Supposed to be cooler that day, hoping atleast. Worked on my 1-2 shifts also, seem to have that better. Also need to rotate my tires, my back tires got lot of tread left, front not so much. Previous owner didnt rotate them by the looks of it
