First time on the track in 45 years. Finally made it out to Orlando Speed World last night. I'm rusty but still remember what I'm SUPPOSED to do. Now I have to work on DOING the things I'm supposed to do. I hope things get better with more track time. I think for right now I'm better on the road courses than the drag strip.

I'm in car #0001

: ) Front wheel drive .. takes a bit to get it. Slicks have helped me majorly. Seat time and you will be rock'n the strip.

Yeah. I almost broke my arm patting my own back. Aside from the missed shift at least I was fairly consistant. I have my shift light, I need all the help I can get, and forgot it was set kinda low considering I now have yhe Trifecta tune. Next time out I crank it up some and try it. I was running out of steam just before the lights and shifting to 4th. I was going by the light. I think I could run it out in third and saved a shift. And I have rotated mounts on the way. Think I'll find some mini footballs too. I was the fastest Cobalt there anyway out of 3.

45 years huh? what does that put you at, a minimum of about 60 years old?
i think that is awesome you bought a turbocharged cobalt and then modded it!
then took it out to the track. that is sweet! i'm glad to see you are enjoying yourself.
i'm willing to bet that you owned some kick ass muscle cars back in the day!
BTW i'm an "older" member on here. i'm 40. lol.

Actually I'm old enough to be your father. Check my sig. The last time I was on a drag strip was at, used to be, Bithlow Drag Strip, not it's Orlando Speed World. The place opened in 1966 and I was ther the next your with a 67 Firebird 400 automatic. The best I could do with that car was a 14.01 don't remember the speed. Rode motorcycles most of my life but lost my confidence and sold both of them. This was one of my last bikes. It's an 85 T-bolt. Wish I still had that one. Yeah it's good to get back on the track. The Fiero was my last project. Talk about a FUN car. The young guys around here **** their pants when I lifted the front wheels off the ground at a light. Last month I ran a HPDE at Homestead/ Miami and 2 weeks ago I did Sebring. Road courses are an honest adrenalin rush. !30 at the end of the back stretch, slam on the brakes in th last 100 yards and side ways through the turn, although that's really not the rast wat to do it. I'm just having fun im my second childhood and spending my daughtes inheratence.

With the ecu it was making around 400 HP. I was using the stock Fiero trans so I never really beat on it and the only time I had it onthe track it broke an axle. Hello Drive Shaft Shop. HOW MUCH?? NINE HUNDRED DOLLARS??? Yeah make me some axles. Sold the car a couple of months ago. The guy that bought it is running it a lot harder than I ever did. He's called me three times to tell me about all the street races he's won. Great little car. I'd LOVE to build another one with an LNF, and a 4T65HD trans. That would be fun.

My dad loves fieros. He wont get rid of his >.< 84 2M4. He just did a paint job costing more than the car is worth. and it was only an 800 dollar paint job. I really want to do a project fiero with a 3800 SC or a 350 when i am making more money and can contribute to it.. i miss my 87 fiero GT...damn drunk drivers.

The Fiero to use would be the 88 model. Either the Formula or the GT. The suspension on these two is completely different than ANY of the others. The LS1 only weighs around 80 pounds more than the V6 that came out of the car. I'd rather use the LNF for the weight. You could use all the engine management, which eliminates a whole lot of hassle not to mention expense $1200. And you can get as much HP as the LS1 out of the LNF pretty easy. AND you wouldn't need a big shoe horn to get in there. With the 4T65 transmission you wouldn't have near the breakage of the manual, which is really the weak link in this conversion. But it's just a dream of mine.

the options are endless for the ls1 though i still think its a better choice but the LNF would be a fun car also! It would be cheaper to mod the LS1 then modding the LNF!

It depends on when my OTTP mounts get here and installed, which should be about 10 minutes after I take them out of the mail box which I HOPE is Tuesday or Wed. I was trying to go next Wed. but it doesn't look good. So Sat. will be my next attempt. I've thought about going to the 1/8th in O just to practice on the tree. I hear you can get a lot of runs in in a night. I really don't care how fast I can go. I want to learn to go fast off the start line.

I guess I'll tell the world how my old mans (MINE) brain works. Mine anyway. It IS kind of funny. Saturday night I left the house in plenty of time to get there when they opened the gates. I got within 10 miles of the track and realized I forgot my helmet. so I drove ALL the way home, damn near 60 miles, got the helmet and ALL the way back. Got to the tech line around 7:15. THEN I learn helmets aren't required if you run 14 seconds or more. UN_BE_LEAVABLE!!! They're more worried about the length of your PANTS than your HEAD. Go figger! I really hadn't figured on that 13.8 run anyway. Now I know. So all in all I drove 240 miles just for the chance to drive ONE Mile. Good thing I'm a retired truck driver that's used to sitting in a seat that moves.

Yeah, I wouldn't mind some company. There were 2 other Balts there. A SC and a TC. Young guys. They were both in the high 14s, low 15s.

So next SAT. is my date of choice.
