All the times posted are what the cars ran on December 1st at Firebird International Raceway. Unless timing and scoring was off thats the numbers we got. I didn't hear anyone say they thought the numbers they ran were off. The Colbalt SS 2.4La driver runs Tucson and said these were his best times. The Quad 2.4Lm also from Tucson said he runs faster in Tucson. The launch pad at Firebird is very slick without traction control the autos in our group including myself would spin the tire all the way through 2nd gear. This was the second time out for my 2.4L auto and were the best times I have run. Both times out I had more then half a tank of 87 octane in the car so I didn't bother topping off with 91. If I have more notice that everyone wants to go out I'll ready the car for a 1/4 to 1/2 a tank of 91. I do not normally run 91 as the car runs fine going back and forth to work on 87, and the 4 weeks in a row I did run 91 I did not see a mileage or performance improvment in that driving loop. Thats not to say it will not make an improvement at the track. I have been hearing for the last 10 years that SpeedWorld north of PHX is 2-5 tenths faster, but I'm not that fired up to drive a hour and a half one way to find out seeing Firebird is 15 mins from me.

As the night wore on and more rubber was laid on the pad things got better. All of the shifter cars were running all over the place from 16.2's to 16.6's early. We all knew they could do better.

All the shifter cars were having traction problems as is normal at Firebird. Example my 2001 Saturn SL2 could barly pull a 16.2 on yokahama parada spec II's..........with slicks it could pull 15.8's.

The automatic cars did not do better. I made 2 runs traction controll off. Once I held it to the floor spun to third and ran a 17.659 with a 2.889 60ft. Next run without TC I feathered the throttle and ran a 16.697 with a 2.801 60ft

I have yet to see a 2.2 get into the 15's at Firebird stock, nor have I seen a 2.4L run faster then a 15.7 stock at Firebird. Thats not to say it's not possible. Thats saying I have yet to see it with my eyes.

I know the car can do better but OSW is not the best track in Central Florida. And that 15.7 was with a 2.4 60ft, I know if I lower the 60ft I would run a mid to low 15 in the 1/4

Red I agree..............drop the 60ft and lower the ET. A set of slicks should fix that right up.

We found none of the shifter cars liked the traction control and all of the automatics loved it. Go figure................

Yep the Ion 3 if you get the option to have ABS you get TC along with it. But there is a switch on the dash to turn it off & on

You can turn off the Traction Control, but not the ABS in case anyone was wondering. If I remember right you can only get TC and ABS with the 2.4L they are part of that package.

Hrmm thats pretty cool. Only tc we have is ecu controlled, i think it pulls timing when wheel spin is detected.

We may both be wrong a bit, looks like TC/ABS can be had on any ION 2 or 3 for 2007. Not sure about the other years. I'll look see in the 06 sales book. How ever it comes it sure helped me out at the bird.

Red it seems the shifter cars just do not like the TC while the autocars seem to like it.

I hardly ever post on this forum but I'm always looking to see what everyone esle is doing on this site. Now that I finally found a thread were people are talking times and not going off subject. I figured I would add my 2 cents, so here goes my best time:
60 foot 2.324
330 feet 6.583
1/8 mile 10.035 at 71.64 mph
1000 feet 13.041
1/4 mile 15.617 at 87.33 mph
That's for a 2.4 automatic with a 2.5 inch axleback with magnaflow muffler, gm header, weapon R intake, and 3 inch zzp downpipe with magnaflow cat(less than 800 dollars spent in parts). It was in orlando, temp was 60 and humidity was 76%(florida humidity sucks). Just so everyone knows when my car was stock I ran a 16.561 at 83.31 mph and a 16.516 at 80.27 mph. That was in july so I'm sure the temp was much higher. A couple of weeks after I added just the axleback with magnaflow muffler and ran a 16.220 at 84.05 mph.

hope the info is helpful
