Thumbs up Decent 2nd time at the track

so friday night i went out to quaker city raceway in salem and it was my 2nd time taking the cobalt out there. My fastest was a 14.9 @ 93 mph...i think the mph is slow because the track goes slightly uphill right at the end...but i atleast got into the 14's so i'm happy with it. I was getting 2.3 60' times all night, couldn't really get it any lower because of wheel hop...i was slipping the clutch at 2k but still ended up with wheel hop... heres some times...

R/T .830 .781 .768
60' 2.309 2.318 2.341
330 6.361 6.419 6.412
1/8 9.650 9.740 9.725
MPH 74.32 73.55 73.80
1000 12.433 12.555 12.523
1/4 14.921 15.070 15.018
MPH 93.65 92.68 93.48

this is how the runs went in order...15.3, 15.1, 14.9, 15.2, 15.0, 15.0, 16.0(spun 1st, bogged 2nd) any suggestions on how to get my times a little lower and more consistant let me hear them!!!

When I lived in Campbell, OH I ran my 04 Redline at quaker City. That track sucks and dows go uphill a little bit.

All I could run is 14.9@96mph all the time. I think you need to shift faster or just stay in 3rd gear at the end of the run.

My suggestion. Stage vehicle, raise the rpms to about 1500-1800, release clutch. You will loose traction, the key is spinning the tires until they regain traction. Restrain the the urge to mash the pedal to the floor when you loose traction, you will regain it. Once you have the traction under control apply full throttle somewhat gradually. You will most likely loose traction once again at the top of 1st gear. Deal with the loose of traction, shift into 2nd, then into 3rd. The race should be over as you run 3rd gear out. This is how I ran a 14.3 and a 14.4! Good luck next time!

....plus , if the air is as hot sticky and humid as it has been over here in Indiana , theres alot of your MPH . I was running 102-103 in the cool spring , now in this horrible air with a couple more mods I can barely break 100 .

Getting that 60 down a lil lower will get u some more ET , but all considered .....a 2.30 on stock tires as stock as you are on a crapfully prepped track is actually pretty respectable . I think youll be pleasently surprised racing on a track that doesnt go uphill too

Hmm that sucks that it goes uphill at the end of the track. Those are still some good times for being close to stock. You should check your DA to see if thst is affecting your times. It can sometimes add over a half second to your times.

DA = density air . Which is actual air quality when all parameter are factored . For instance , a dragstrip I race pretty normally sits at 662 ft above sea level . There have been times when the actual air quality is equal to 3500 above sea level , and all the way down to negative 1000 feet . The only way to measure it is with some type of weather station , which can be pricey . But theres also small hand held ones that are pretty affordable .
