Drag racing question

So after going to the track a couple of times and talking to a few guys with alot more experience one guy told me to leave the gas pedal down when shifting. I have always let up like normal driving. Does everyone else that races do this and if you do what rpms do u shift at?

If you are a quick shifter then you will be ok, it's kinda hard on things. You should still shift at the same point. You do this for the same reason that you rev it up on your launch. You want to be in the power band with as much throttle as possible.

i would let up alil on the 1-2 shift just for traction resons , unless your track is prepped well.
but its harsh as hell on the drive train.
