Drag radials?
Drag radials?
Guys,
I see many of you on here thats running high 13s at like 106 mph with crappy 2.3 or so short times. Is anyone running DR or slicks that can show me their times?
See I used to own 2 LT1 trans ams and an LS1 SS Z28 in the past. Stock times on the LT1s were usually 14.0 at 100mph (street tires) and the LS1 ran 13.31 @ 106 on the stickies (only track visit with that car)
What Im getting at is the SS/SC has incredible mph, but being front wheel drive it looks as though its hurting it on the street tires. If we put slicks on this little beast it should be an LT1 killer for sure. LS1 is an all togther different ball game though.
Any thoughts or comments from DR guys?
Thanks.

I will probably get the new Hoosier drag radials 225 50 16. I was going to get the quick time pro 26x9.5x16 but I would rather not have to change my tires at the track.I will let you know how it turns out. I had a 2.26 60' with the street tires.
Last week at the track there was a guy in a neon running 11.9 with m&h slicks. He said he runs 14's on street tires

i have hooser drag radials and have a 1.9 60ft and an 8.8 1/8mile. this is with a sliping clutch and sleeping at the light with a reaction time .7 you will need stage2 axles or you break them. and yes it will kill a lt1 and put a good hurting on an ls1. i don't race 4 bangers i only race v8's they think they have something but find out real fast what was just put on them. i beat one mustang so bad he got his slip and left the track.
they will hold if you are smart about it. let the car cool down when you get to the track and between runs. i let mine cool down 45-60 minutes in between passes. if you feel wheel hop get out of it.
as far as getting them "hot" you will need to do a burnout. i do a pretty good one before every run. roll through a slight bit of water if they have it out. e -brake and drop it at about 4. wait a few seconds until you see some smoke (car will probably be pulling you forward because the e-brake blows). push in clutch, release brake. then stage. again, if you feel wheel hop stop.

I'm running 245/40/17 Nitto 555R's on my car. I've had them for about 5k miles and so far i like them. They helped a little bit at the track but no much. The big killer for me is my open diff (soon to change, i have a Quaife LSD sitting next to me.)
The passenger tire still blisses off in 1/2 a second.
The biggest improvement i have found with Dr's is that the car actualy hooks in second gear. on the nittos i would spin almost all the way throught second gear.
