Drag tire.

I was talking with hoosier about tires for the tc. The guy I talked to said they are currently testing a 225/45-17 in their dot radial. He said that however being a radial it has a wrinkle wall side wall and is only dot approved for dot classes at the strip, not street use. He also said it should be released within a couple months.

I'd take a 17" tire, just aslong as I can find a cheap, lightweight 17" rim to fit over the Brembos.

I the this car with mods is way to powerful for a 225. Nitto has a 245/45/17 DR that would be better than that. I think if you are planning on staying stock then the 225 might be ok.

No the 225 will break your axles probably. The dot radial that hoosier makes is a slick compound not a drag radial compound.

here is what the tire will be like. I have a set of 17 inch wheels that only weigh 17 lbs. I have to run a spacer but.

I know there are some 17" wheels out there that will fit over the Brembos without spacers, just have to find them.

So it's basically a cheater slick. There's a couple people around here that run those on the streets.

Well the wheels are sport tuning from tire rack. As far as spacer size I am still working on it a little.

True, but I dont wanna have to worry about buying another set of stock rims, or having to swap back and forth from the Conti's to the MT's.

Once I get my damn take home Patrol car I wont mind getting a cheater slick and using it on the street. Pretty much the only time I'm gonna drive the car is if I need to or if I'm going to the track.

I understand that it is basically a slick but I still feel that it is to skinny for the power that most of these car are making with just even a tune.

You dont have to launch hard all the time, if the clutch starts slipping, dont launch as hard. I want the slicks for a easy 1.7-1.8 60 foot and then when you bang second to hook.

That 60' is good enough to get you into the 12's with just a tune. Hell with that 60' I'd be running 8.4-8.5 in the 1/8 mile. I might need to look into the nt01's, LOL.

yeah dude those nt01's are the ****... my best run is an 8.67 (lets just call it an 8.7 for arguments sake lol) i know on a warmer track i could easily get a low 1.8 and possibly run a low(er) 8.6x...im not heating the tires up like a john force burnout either just a quick heater to get the stones off...im still stock(ish) just have the airbox mod and a custom 3" catback...i wanted to see what i could get the car to do on a stock tune before i went ***** out with a custom HPtuners toon

Aren't the nt01 primarily for road course use over drag racing? You would yeild much better results from a NT 555R.
