Fastest stock blower m62 ss/sc quarter mile?
Fastest stock blower m62 ss/sc quarter mile?
Am I reading this right? After all these years, hatrickstu went 12.9 and no one ever went faster on just the stock m62?
I'll document the money spent. YouTube channel. I don't agree with that reasoning at all. I went 13.2 before way back in the day with not much invested. The most expensive part is drag wheels and slicks which will be used on any setup.
Everyone just throws a turbo on now and doesn't bother messing with the m62. Good luck to you, I hope you meet your goals. With the lower torque you don't have to worry about traction as much.
I know these cars don't make alot of power, especially on the little m62, but traction not being an issue and lack of torque? Lol, do you know anything about these cars?
the reason i say it gets expensive chasing small records is cause it really does. i see guys chasing things like "fastest stock turbo" records on various cars, guys end up with full engine builds, stripped interiors, and turned into a car thats no fun to drive on the street. meanwhile the guy that does some bolt ons and a bigger turbo is faster, all while being perfectly streetable.
sure a 12.9 isnt that fast (neither is a 12.2) but the m62 doesnt move much air either. in the end its going to take a serious amount of engine work to run low 12s with an m62.
He’s right ^ and turbo Tim from zzp did it in an ion years ago. They made in the 400hp ball park. But ya the quickest time I’ve seen on a stock engine with just bolt one and e85 with the m62 was my friend Justin’s at a 12.6. Then my le5 did a 12.8 with 264whp

Unless its for personal gratification i dont see the point in trying. Even if it was for bragging rights on here, most people have moved on from this platform. i havnt owned one in almost 6 years.
Basically boils down to making the engine breath better internally is not even close to as cost effective or easy as just throwing more boost at it. One thing I wonder is why more drag strip M62 Cobalts don't utilize nitrous
