First time at the 1/4 mile

yesterday was test n tune at national trails raceway and the weather could not had been any better. it was a solid 50-55 degrees almost all day. not very crowded at all. i got a total of 4 runs in. i could have put a lot more in but wasnt rushing. my first run i was pretty nervous because i had never raced at a track. first run was against an older f-150 supercharged.i ran a 15.378@98.74 and he ran 15.328@77.12. my 2nd run was against my friends brothers 02 civic si hb i/e/h k-pro, and mounts, stripped interior. i ran a 14.716@101.22 and he ran a 15.169@91.13. my main goal was to beat him just because he thought he was gonna kill me and my friends wrx which ran a 13.8 yesterday so we both shut him up.lol. my other 2 runs my 2nd gear was grinding very bad but ill tell you what they were anyways.my 3rd run was against BOOSTKING on here with his 08 ss/tc. he ran a 13.084@111.48 and i ran a 16.463@97.76 because my 2nd gear wasnt cooperating with me. last run was against a 57 bel air. i ran a 18.778 @94 and he ran a 19.113 @ 70.49. in that run i thought my 2nd was completely gone so it took me awhile to shift.

mods are in sig

So 14.7@101 was the best of 4, and it was your first time at the track. I say, not bad at all man. Did you have fun? Oh and what does BOOSTKING have in terms of mods? 13 flat at 111 is no joke.

Definitely a great start man. Keep at it and you'll do much better the more you go. Important thing is to learn how your car likes to be launched and get the 60' down. What was your best 60' of the day?

thanks all for the comliments and advice. my best 60' was 2.379 but that was my 18 sec run.lol

boostking has a custom tune from himself and a set of 18 in DR's. 13.00 wasnt ever his best. his best is a 12.876

Wow that's sweet. Anyway, we won't make this thread about him. How did you find launching your car? What technique did you use?

i brought it up to around 2300-2700 and launched from there trying not to get massive wheel hop. forgot to mention since my second gear is so messed up in 1st i have to shift to second around 4500-5200 if i go any over that it will grind gear until i let it drop rpms way down.

nice job for your first track visit ever. I'm glad to hear you didn't get frustrated and just give up on the track. It take a lot of time and practice to get it perfect.

Boostking is an animal with his car. LOL.

yea, keep trying man, the more you go, the more you figure it out. With a 101 trap speed, you'll be running 13's after a few visits. It's addicting too.
