First time out with the Redline!

Got to make three passes last night at Milan Dragway in Michigan

1st run was a 14.0 at 104.3
2.29 60 foot

2nd run was a 14.2 @ 105.8
2.42 60 foot

3rd run
Ran a 15.9 @ 99.9
2.34 60 foot

If I wouldnt have botched the last run I’m sure the car would have trapped around 106-107 on the last run since the car was fully cooled down and ambient temps had dropped well into the 60’s.

With a decent 2.0-2.1 60 foot the car will go low 13s.

Not bad for $800 in total mods, time to save for a clutch and get some cooling mods

Very Nice! those 14.0, & 14.2 times were nice! You'll be capable of hitting 13"s in no time...

Hey, noticed where you are from the area. We have a bunch of ECOTECS meeting on Woodward out in Royal Oak, actually a Cobalt SS/TC owner that's coming out is from Wixom... Here's the thread, check it out...

Very nice. If you run low 14's, your doing something right.

nice trap speed. get some sticky tires and run 13's all day long with that trap speed.

What were your 1/8th mile times and trap speeds if you don't mind me asking?

to get better ETs I'd go with traction mods.

1st run had a 9.24 et @ 79.92

2nd run had a 9.40 @ 79.87

On the final run the 1/8 et and trap didnt get picked up for some reason, the 1000ft was 13.61 @ 84.72 (this run sucked because the clutch is not strong enough, has 76k miles)

Defintiely, and some more practice, that was my first time out with the car so a few more sessions I should have it down.

On the last run I raced my buddies 02 mustang GT with longtubes, a tune by alternative auto, X-pipe, drag radials, 3.73 gears, intake, throttle body and upper manifold, and a king cobra clutch.

He ran a 2.1 60 foot (wasnt heating up the drag radials) and a 13.6 and 106. If I could have gotten a good 60 foot on that last run it would have been a real close race, he would have been so pissed to lose to a four cylinder.

well, I have to say I'm super happy about what my car is gonna run with the new mods. I trap higher in the 1/8th mile than almost anyone that I've seen, even if they have pulley and exhaust mods like you do. The only reason I don't have better top end, is because I am still on the stock ex. manifold and dp and stock pulley.

12's are sooooooo gonna happen.

congrats again though, you got some good trap speeds. Get some good tires and you'll be 13's all day long.

Do you have cooling mods?

Keep in mind this car has no cooling mods and during tuning we found the PCM was pulling 1-4 degrees of timing because of the high IAT temps.

That is probably costing me anywhere from 10-20HP, so the 1/8th, and especially the 1/4 traps should increase with this setup once I get some cooling mods.

BTW, that is a real nice ET for your 1/8th you must have good 60 foot times

Sweet! You used to work at SLC eh? Cool. I proposed SLC & Royal Oak Ford, as a possible meeting spot, then everyone agreed at Woodward & 13 1/2, but yeah we'll be running up and down Woodward by the nights end. So if you see like 15 Cobalts, & one or two RL's you'll know who they are!

hey, I wasn't being mean, i was just astonished he hasn't seen that thread of mine yet. LOL.

Thanks for the compliments NGKTECH. The slicks are the reason for the low et, but they did in fact hurt my trap speed some as they are HUGE. So I still manage to out trap a lot of people on this forum in the 1/8th. Top end should wake up a ton with the new mods and my 1/8th mile is only going to get better also. If I can trap close to 90mph in the 1/8th, I'll be SUPER happy. But I doubt I'll be that fast. Probably about 85 or so is where I'll be.
