First time with the SS

Last night I took my Cobalt (2010 SS/TC) down the 1/4 mile for the first time. I ran a best of 14.187 @103.11. I had a 2.35 60' time. My car is stock as a rock with 2950 miles on the clock. I was really happy!! I'm hoping to run 13s with out actually spending any money .

Very nice runs you work on those 60fts and you will have 13's no problem. Best I got out of mine stock was 14.4 at 102 with a 2.3 60ft. I baby the car out of the hole though.

You'll get 13s with more track time. Avoid hot days.

Thanks ! My first run I bogged off the line and ran a 2.68 60' haha. Then I got the hang of it and launched around 3,000 rpms while quickly slipped the clutch. I hooked pretty good but still spun a little. I was running 34psi. I figure if I air down to maybe 28psi or so and try the footballs I might be able to run a 13.9.

Really good time for a sc. You must have been launching hard out of the hole, I was just leaving at idle. Car only had 1200 miles on it first time at track.

A 2.1 60' which is most certainly attainable without footballs and you're running a 13.9 or better. Try launching at a slightly lower rpm.

I ran a 14.2 stock. You are babying that thing which is fine. It's your car.

Try launching at a lower rpm?? Ok--thanks! I'll try launching around 2500rpms with lower tire pressure.

I was crossing the line right at the top of third. Are other people shifted into fourth or staying in third?

How come I'm only able to run 1/10th a second better then the SC guys who have less hp??

They have instant boost, it's easier for them to control the power going down in 1st gear. It's really all in the first gear. You're walking a stock LSJ from then on.

Tire Pressure = 20 or less is you want some good 60's

At least for me. As the night goes on if your running bracket or elimination it will get cooler and your tire pressure will drop even more. I ended the night one time at like 10 psi but i was hooking like a ****. Hurts top end a little tho

Yes. Less tire-spin=better 60'. So try 2500 rpm because it should be easier to control your tires.

Also a stock LSJ is underrated. They dyno higher than 205 in most cases. Either way the best stock times for the LSJ is 14.0 where the LNF has gone as fast as 13.5 stock.

Thanks for the advice guys!! I'll hit 13s before long ! I'm hoping to run again when I don't have to wait in line for so long. My engine temp was ~200 and my intake temp was in the mid 80s.
