If you ran a 10.7 1/8. Then your 1/4 will probably be low to mid 16s
My 1/8 is 10.0 and my 1/4 is 15.5 and I ran that with my 2.4 having an intake, exhaust lsj throttle body and a tune.

You think I can run close to a 10.0 with a 2.2 with an intake, headers, downpipe, catback exhaust, and a tune?

in for more TRACK times..

getting to the 1/8 is easy, continuing to accelerate through the 1/4 is the hard part. so its really hard to try and compare 1/8 mile times and 1/4 times.

EX knows his **** with drag racing.

Some posts in here may give you a ballpark, but everything is differetn with different setups adn tunes.

My 2.4 was 9.65@ 73.61 the 1/8th
14.94@ 93.3 the 1/4

we have different power curves.

There was a 07 LS in there that was 10.09@70.5 in the 1/8th
Clicked off a 15.6 @ 88.5

I have the opposite problem. The first 60 or 100 feet are horrible but once it finally starts to get grip it just goes and the 1/8th is done while it's still pulling hard.

reaction .7876 (yuck)
60 2.5741
1/8 9.7538@81.45

tires@ 22psi.
launch @ under 1200. any more and it just spins in place, hardly even moves. Ease the clutch out. On and off the throttle all through 1 and 2.

I need lots of driver mod. Any advice would be good!

yeah you would have been destroyed if i ran you in the impala haha, i had a .134 light that run(terrible for me) so theres .653 difference there, and when you cross the 60' that puts it at .964 seconds. lets say 30-35mph being that its just 60' mark. that puts me at about 102'-110' mark when you cross the 60'. length of the cobalt/G5=15', so thats 2.8 to 3.3 car lengths ahead. math is fun isn't it

no what i'm saying is for slower cars like this (no offense i've got one too), races are won and lost in the first 1/8. launching is key obviously. but what i'm talking about being able to continue to accelerate in the second 1/8 is that my fastest pass in a bone stock '04 impala ss:
60' 2.263
330' 6.381
1/8 9.849@71mph.

if it had more power that'd be a mid to low 14 second pass. but it doesn't have the power, and it only went 15.381@88mph. only picked up 17mph. basically just cruising through the 2nd 1/8 not really picking up much. i've got slips from my old bone stock lsj pulling the same 330' time of 6.34 and still putting down a 14.3 unlike the impalas 15.3

traction gets you started. horsepower gets you to the finish. thats why i'm saying comparing 1/8 times to 1/4 times is very hard to do.

and in my true fashion, heres a video for reference hahah. see how the launch gets the car going quickly, but then just seems to stop accelerating and start cruising...

Damn Cobalts are heavy!

Fully bolted and tuned my car ran 14.2 with like 14Xwhp, tossed in some cams and it went 13.8 with 169whp.

I think my best time in a bone stock 2.2 was a 9.9 in the 1/8.

You guys are modifying the wrong platform! LOL

I believe you, and I understand that comparing 1/8 to 1/4 isn't a fair comparison.

And I know that my reactions at the tree are bad. It'll improve to some degree with practice. Though to be fair I was working more on trying to get out without wheelspin and not really looking at the lights.

I just can't do it. I tried launching at 5,4,3,2,1800,1200. No good. Finally at 1200 if I slide the clutch it'll move with no wheel spin but if I touch the throttle it blows right up. Seriously frustrating. All 3 of us Cobalts that were there Sunday had the same issue. Couldn't get the car to get traction until well into 2nd gear and almost 60 feet out.

It was a joke that Cobalts are too heavy, settle.

Your car also makes much more HP than mine from the factory, if my car came with that much HP from the factory it would run high 12's bone stock.

i did 14.2@102.2 on the rev limiter in 3rd at Darlington in July 2010. IAT2 was 98* on a 2.47 60-ft in my stock SS/TC lol

also you can use 1/8th mile time multiplied by 1.54-1.56 depending on the car to get a rough 1/4 mile time. 1.56 is usually good for N/A stuff and 1.54 is good for larger turbo cars...

let me explain why calculators aren't the best tool to use. they rely on consistency between EVERY car that inputs numbers. drag calculators "assume" everything. there are no actual calculation involved. if you want to make you're own its very easy, but takes for ever. its called a log book(PDFs work great) and if you really want it to be accurate you can only add the runs where everything went great. launch, 60', shifting, everything. write down the DA with the run, wind speed and direction, temperature, pressure, and humidity. that way you can know what the car will do on any given day. calculators also can't differentiate between fwd and rwd or awd. they can't factor in weight. the only way to know what a car will do is to go out and do it.
